Hi.

Please share your svg here so we can point out where it has the shape-rendering specified to show aliased edges.

Re: Circle function doesn't work.

Hi.

It does.

Check the fill and stroke attributes.
Opacity is lowered to 4%.
Fill has additional lowered alpha value.
Has no stroke.

Draws an arc from 0 to 71,390°.

Switch to outlines only rendering mode if you don't beleive your eyes -Ctrl+5 on the numpad twice.

Re: Bubble/Crystal Ball Effect from Image

Hi. An advantage of svg filters is the live rendering -can update the base image and generate variants at a set resolution. Which is also somewhat of a downside as well. Rendering gets laggy once filters are applied and most likely you will end up using a raster copy of the filtered image, thus aban...

Re: How do I cut off the edge of a blurred object?

Hi.

Using mesh gradient would be the obvious way to start instead of using of a combination of blurring.
Although it depends on the look you are after. Production-wise using some sort-of halftoning with flat fills only may work better.

Re: filtering guide

Hi. As far as I remember there was a heart-shape used to cut a group of objects depicting the mentioned part. Which was a low-poly texture you can generate by neighboring triangles, yet to avoid any gaps it was rebuilt from overlapping paths. Due to the overlapping, those were 100% opaque and each h...

Re: GRADIENT BANDING pdf/x1a printing issues

Hi! Tricky question. It is a huge downside of inkscape -both the print ready colour handling and grandient banding. The options are *very* limited. You can export to a png image and add a gradient in a raster editor program which has an option of using a built-in dithering. In inkscape you can use f...

Probably using different search tags but came across a similar solution to a merely production-wise problem on the bell font , where they included "ink traps". https://nicksherman.com/articles/bellCentennial/inkTraps-M.gif Guessing blurred vision works the same as ink spread so it helps fo...

Re: Drawing icon as Stroke

Hi. Probably that's of the style they are aiming for -consistent widths, simplistic monochrome interface design. Contrary I'm guessing technically that's a downside to store as "pure vectors" to use strokes instead fills. Strokes rely much on the renderer and can produce weird stuff. Not m...

Re: realistic pen pencil chalk line help

Hi. Honestly speaking the stroke of a pencil look rather different than what's depicted on your drawing. What we see is looking more like a line drawing -drawn with a much wider "instrument". Contrary a pencil drawing of those traces would look very light and most likely wouldn't give the ...

Re: Help hide the path outline for the pen tool in B-Spline mode

Hi. In my humble opinion with B-splines and using a tablet everyone have problems. The shape layed down is affected by the newly set "node" positions. Contrary Bézier paths, B-splines never go through these reference points and hence you can't even set an inflection point on a curve precis...

Hi.

My guess is there IS a pixellize filter, sort of.
style:crispedges
If your svg has some source outside inkscape it likely ended up with such a style attribute.
Check those objects in the xml editor too.

On an unrelated note,
blender released the stabile version of 2.8 today as well for downloading.
With a completely new interface, no more blender render engine but eevee instead. Huge progress in becoming the industry standard.

Maybe this year we can expect inkscape 1.0?

Re: How to Remove blank interstices on pattern

As far as I know, illustrator only uses oversampling which is basically the same as exporting at a larger size than scaling it down -thus it's rather a resource-heavy sugar coating. Also it's not entirely the anti-aliasing's fault but how transparency is composited. Like, two rectangles with an 50% ...

Re: How to Remove blank interstices on pattern

Hi. I prefer overlapping as the final solution to the gap issue. If openclipart was still up I could link you some examples on complex images. In a nutshell think of your paths as pieces of paper you glue toegether. You cannot glue paper pieces by their edges so you need either a "ducttape"...

Re: Successful PNG export file at width 2000, but not at width 3600

Hi. I'd try fiddling with the rendering cache size, not sure if that has any effect. Judged by how disappearing objects are caused by that it might. Other than that, have experienced such issue when there was an "unreasonably" small gradient used inside the image. Check if there is such a ...

Re: Inkscape Tutorial for Engineers, 12 slides in PDF

Just a note from someone drafting with cad in a daily basis. Cad does have splines and can use either Bézier or B-splines, yet for practical purposes polylines are better. You can offset them keeping it parallel to the original, whereas splines have no such feature. In that regard spiro-spline is mo...

Hi.

Apart from the fact that no two curved Bézier path segments can be parallel exactly -mathematically speaking- there were some hopes planted before on better joins. Have no idea what happened to that feature.

Re: cutting/segmenting a spiral?

Not the width (and not the bees for that matter) but the stroke-dasharray, like in Moini's extension.
Keeping the same stroke-dash ratio while altering their sum manually until they reach an amount (like twice as the starting value preferably) and back.
