Inkscape exports bigger files...
So, I encountered this today, and it's weird. Usually, Inkscape exported bitmaps of the exact size as the drawing. If it was 1500x8000px, the bitmap was 1500x8000. But today it exports bigger files. I thought it was something wrong with the exact file, but I checked my older drawings and now they ha...

Re: how to import that part of a vector that is inside a "pa
It doesn't really matter what's in and what's outside the page, - it was a general question. In the meantime I found out that clipping everything that goes outside the psge borders might be clipped witha rectangle of size of the page. There was a problem though - it breks clips in the picutere. And ...

Re: how to import that part of a vector that is inside a "pa
On a mac, create a copy of file A, select the things to copy, invert selection, delete unnecessary object, save. Then, opening file B, import copy of A. I don't have a mac, but that's what I'm doing at the moment - maybe I should've ask more precisely - is it possible without deleting unnecessary o...

how to import that part of a vector that is inside a "page"
So, I have a vector in file A. Let's say I'm making somehting in file B, and I want to import vector from file A, but not the whole vector, but exactly this part that is inside the "page". Is it possible? Or do I have to export to PNG, and then use the raster?

problem with filling bounded areas
Okay... It's been bothering me for a while... Whenever I use the "bucket" tool to fill area between paths, the "fill" doesn't stick to the "outlines" - there are always a few pixels left blank/transparent. When I add stroke of the same color to the "fill", the...

Re: Problem with Tracing bitmap
Thanks guys for your help!
@PT - I wasn't clear - I asked what I was doin g wrong because I thought there is maybe some tool or checkbox to prevent TB from removing the eyes - I rather quickly understood what was going on
But it doesn't matter. Now I know what I wanted to know - thanks again

Re: cutting an image
I would probably drag a Guide line down to the place where you want for the bottom, and snap the appropriate nodes to the guide. Is this "guide line" a tool in Inkscape, or what? By the way - semi-related question - If I have 2 paths, and I want to connect them - I used "break...

@ Pilosopong Tasyo
I understood from the beginning why the tool removes the eyes - didn't know how to stop it from doing so
On the other hand, I had no idea why the tool was adding the background when the option was not checked?

Re: cutting an image
The eraser has 2 modes, the erase whole paths mode, and the erase parts of paths mode. To use the second mode you should select the path you want to work on before switching to the eraser. That way if there are a lot of paths around, you only affect the path you want to edit! Cool, hm? Wroked most ...

Re: cutting an image
Which side did you want to cut? Well actually, the only side that's really a side, is the bottom. So you want to cut a little bit off the bottom? Or you just need to move it over left or right? Yeah, I wanted to cut a little bit off the bottom to make the bottom line straight ;) I tried to used era...

Re: Problem with Tracing bitmap
Ok, I just need one last thing. I can't figure out why Inkscape put the background on it, after you had removed it. Could you give me the original where you already removed the background? I do have GIMP, but I don't know how to remove the background, otherwise I would do it myself. When you remove...

Re: Problem with Tracing bitmap
Which one -- Twilight_Sparkle_is_smug...jpg; or Foruminkscapetwilight....png. The one called Foruminkscapetwilight....png has already had the background removed. If that's the one, I wanted to see the image before you removed the background in GIMP. And also, what is your goal for the result of the...

Re: cutting an image
It's a big bunch of paths - it's an image I made - I spent a lot of time trying to solve the problem by moving the paths so everything was nearly as if it was cut, but I wonder if there is a simple method. Later, I also grouped everything into one "object", but couldn't figure out how to &...

Re: Problem with Tracing bitmap
You said that when you uncheck Remove Background, the result seems to have a background? Could you show us that before and after too? Also, could you show us the original image? There may be a different way to remove the background using Inkscape, which might just solve all the problems (I'm thinki...

cutting an image
I have a question - is it possible to "cut" the image with some tool? Or reduce/remove a few pixels from one side? I don't want to scale it - I just want to "Cut" it. The image is a vector.

Re: Problem with Tracing bitmap
"PT is a he" -- awesome, just want to be sure. thanks! Questions: 2 - exported to what file format/file type -- JPG, GIF, PNG? 3 - If it was exported, or saved in any raster format, it would have had to be imported into Inkscape. Is that what happened? You didn't happen to paste it into I...

Re: Problem with Tracing bitmap
I'd provide the pictures, but I deleted them :P It was just a practice. Aaahh, well we are getting into some uncertain territory here, speaking hypothetically for images which no longer exist! But I think PT is probably on to the issue. If you can't make it work using his/her :?: comments, please l...

Re: Problem with Tracing bitmap
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/3681/anwelcomewavese0.gif Welcome to InkscapeForum! I'm not entirely clear about the situation. You said you wanted to remove the background. But then you said the image had no background (the background is transparent). So that's a little confusing. Can you show ...

Problem with Tracing bitmap
First of all, I'm new to Inkscape, but I watched a few tutorials. So, I tried to create a vector with tracing bitmap tool. Nearly everything went great but one thing - the tool made white parts in graphic disappear (I wanted to delete background only). The graphic was already "backgroundless&qu...
