saving svg in illustrator, transferring to inkscape
Hi folks, A bit of background: I create (by hand) intricate line drawings, scan them & then vector trace the scanned image. My work is b&w. When I go to save an SVG file in illustrator (CS6) I'm given loads of options. I'm a little confused (still learning!). I really want to be able to tran...

Re: computer upgrade advice - inkscape user
I remember reading somewhere that the most important thing for fast inkscape use is RAM. My system has max 8gb. When I vector trace my drawings (they're large works) sometimes I'm left with hundreds of thousands of nodes (the tracing takes a long time). I would really like a fast system (zooming in ...

computer upgrade advice - inkscape user
Hello everyone, I need a bit of advice. I am keen to upgrade my computer and am not exactly tech savvy (you can say that again!). Here's my situation in a nutshell: I am a [graphic] artist, though I mostly use traditional means to create my art. My work is quite intricate, mainly b&w line work. ...

Re: inkscape - trace bitmap help
The size change depends on image. I'll attach a simple example (two images, the original and the traced):
original is 650.00x378.00 px
traced is 504.302x263.491 px
When the object is traced, it appears the surrounding empty space is cut out. I wish to maintain it in the final trace...
Thanks!

svg file problem - too large
Hi, I am unable to open a file (svg format, 18mb large) in inkscape. I keep getting the error message "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way..." Is there another program that can handle svg files of this size? I would like to edit the svg files and then...

See attachment for visual clarification - three images of the mona lisa: 1. complete 2. Blacked out except for one square at the bottom 3. Different part blacked out. Hello, this is a general query. Let's say you have an image of a painting and wish to display different parts of it WITHOUT reducing ...

eggbot hatch extension - stray lines - help
(tried to post before, nothing happened)
Eggbot Hatch extension works well on small jobs. However, when hatching larger jobs I get quite a few stray lines. Any tips? Thanks.

pattern, turn strokes into individual nodes
Hi, having a problem. Refer to the picture attached. nodes.JPG When you create patterns in inkscape - just say, for example, you fill a box with stripes - the stripes are still part of the object; so a box filled with stripes still only has four nodes - ie the stripes don't count as individual paths...
