Re: Drawing challenge!
Lazur -- your suggestion of masking the shape seems to have nailed it! It produces the desired shape in (basically) one step. I am a little concerned about how the laser cutter driver interprets a masked object - I will run a test to see what happens. Although the clip operation visually produces th...

Re: Drawing challenge!
Lazur, You may be correct that it is a fewer step solution to this specific instance. But since the shapes used here only happen to be regular, which is not true of my other artwork, I can't accept that as a solution to the general problem: removing path segments that are in common with the shape pr...

Drawing challenge!
Hey everyone, I am trying to find the most efficient way to achieve a specific result, so I challenge all you smarter folks to achieve the same result in fewer steps. I use Inkscape to generate designs for a laser cutter, and very often I want to have a shape in the design outlined. However, wheneve...

Re: Breaking overlapping lines
Perhaps an extension to "Add Nodes At Intersections" would be possible? Because once the nodes are in place, cutting the extraneous bits and combining the end points would be a lot fewer steps and mouse/key operations

Breaking overlapping lines
Hey folks, I have drawings with a lot of lines that don't quite match up. Imagine an X drawn with two lines and the desired result is similar to a carrot: ^ The simplest operation would be to break the lines at the point of intersection, then delete the unwanted segments. The "Cut Path" op...

True Type Font issue clarification
I installed several TTFs on my Windows 7 machine. When I used one of the new fonts for text in Inkscape it rendered as "plain" text. To summarize, Inkscape could see the font, had no problems letting me select the font, but did not seem to be applying it. I read all the old emails about pr...
