You're right! I did read that line but I wasn't sure that it was an actual step. Now I know that it is :) Thanks for pointing this out.

Hello brynn, Thanks for looking into this. What I see matches your description; the fill colors disappear after I do Cut Path. Hey brynn, Thanks for the kind welcome and your response. For this particular case the method you suggested did not work. I think I must have screwed something up in my path to object or reverse conversions while working on the logo. I redid the logo, this time without any intermediate 'experiments'...
