Trying to copy a parabolic curve from a PDF
I want to use Inkscape to design parts of an antenna. The parts will be cut from acrylic on a laser cutter and use to hold together some sheet metal and wire which will form a reflector and the antenna itself. The problem I have is creating the parabola from the PDF supplied here: https://drive.goog...

Bug? Object looks like a circle but should be a square
Is this a bug? When I open a file I started some time ago, created using version 0.92.2 (problem still occurs when opening file in version .3), the object I expect to look like a square looks like a circle. If you look at the position of the circular handle, it says it should be a square. If I move ...

Multiple text boxes selected but only one affected by font changes
I exported some charts from Excel as PDFs and imported them into Inkscape 0.92.3. I removed manual kerning from all the text. Now I'm trying to change the font size for the chart titles but for some reason only one of the selected text boxes is affected. How can I change all the boxes at once? Thank...

Overlapping letters in textbox from imported PDF exported from MS Excel [SOLVED]
I exported some charts from Excel 2016 as PDFs. I imported the PDFs into Inkscape 0.92.3 and when I try to type in the text boxes, the letters I type overlap each other. In the below screenshot I placed the cursor after the 'l' in 'manual' and typed XYZ which overlap the l and the space after the l....

Automatically select all thin lines [SOLVED]
I made some plasmid maps in a different software but the software makes some really thin lines for labels with no way of setting their thickness. Is there some way I can automatically select all these thin (0.088 mm) straight lines so I can adjust their thickness simultaneously? Maybe it would be an...

Change font size but keep text centred in its current position
I would like to reduce my font size but keep the text centered in its current position. When I reduce the font size the text stays aligned to the left and bottom of its previous position. What is the easiest way to achieve this?

Possible bug makes objects turn black on undo operation
I think I have found a bug in Inkscape and I'd like someone else to confirm it and then I'll make a bug report. My file is available here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j8ad768rbi29qtr/Natural%20CRISPR%20schematic.svg?dl=0 I created the file using an online service to convert an MS PowerPoint file into ...

Resizing bitmap images in Inkscape - effect on quality?
I'm preparing my thesis figures in Inkscape and my figures sometimes include bitmap elements. I'm wondering what happens when I resize bitmaps in Inkscape; does it record the original bitmap so resizing it continually doesn't cause it to degrade? That's what appears to be the case from my messing ar...

Re: Flatten beziers arbitrary minimum limitation produces rough result
I found that selecting all the nodes and then using the 'insert new node into selected segment' function three times prior to flattening improved the outcome.

[SOLVED] Flatten beziers arbitrary minimum limitation produces rough result
I am trying to prepare DXF files to use in openSCAD. There's an Inkscape extension but it's six years old. I need to remove "splines" by going Extensions > Modify paths > Flatten beziers but the minimum value of 0.1 still produces a rough result (the default value of 10 produces an absurd ...

Making hexagonal honeycomb lattice
I'm trying to make a honeycomb lattice. I tried following both versions of the instructions here but I end up with overlapping. How do I achieve the lattice? I don't know how to predict the result of the values entered into the tiled cloning interface.

Creating a second set of tiled clones deletes the first set? Is that deliberate? It doesn't seem like a useful "feature" to me. I wanted to make two sets of tiled clones from one parent.

How to view multiple tool windows at the same time?
I used to be able to have multiple tool windows (e.g. align, objects, layers) open at the same time. Right now, I can only open one and when I do so, it collapses the previous. Dragging the bunch down just adds a load of wasted space to the bottom of the list. How do I get them to share that right h...
