I've noticed this in some of my comics too, and I finally had time to figure out what was causing it for me today. In several of my documents, an extra `svg:flowRoot` and `svg:flowRegion` appear in the XML tree. The construct does not appear anywhere in the Inkscape editor view, and can only be seen...

You could always try using a distribution that has pre-built packages with Inkscape. I've had no troubles installing it on Debian or Ubuntu servers, calling it from CGI scripts. It does require a large set of dependencies (gnome, xfree, etc., but it works well enough).

I also have an obscure webcomic, drawn using Inkscape. It's Robotpony.ca , and here's an example flowchart: http://robotpony.ca/images//2009/stay-or-go.png FWIW, I use Adobe Illustrator for work and I prefer Inkscape (and use it for all of my personal projects and clients) ... it's an amazing vector...

Early on I was thinking about adding a closed copyright to my webcomic when a developer friend reminded me that: * Getting noticed is a hard problem * Getting linked to is even harder * Someone stealing your work is like getting noticed (it's exposure and recognition) * It's not worth trying to prot...
