If it helps anything I have a .PNG version of the same tiger where the transparency has been worked out to how I want it (solid image with transparent background) with GIMP. So in layman's terms there's nothing I can do then eh? It's annoying because I've used multiple images from the Wikimedia Commons with no issue whatsoever
