Ok, I wrote a comment to Bug #1373322 saying that it also affects Inkscape 0.91.

Thanks for asking! I had no idea that this could be a problem. My home directory is a NFS. If I copy the file to /tmp or a local had disk or usb drive is works perfectly. I'm curious, why is a large file in a network file system a problem for Inkscape? And why has the old Inkscape 0.48 no problems w...

Hello everybody, I encountered the following error: I open Inkscape, embed some png images such that the file size is 10mb and save it as drawing.svg.
