Re: Formatting stroke & fill as per eyedropper?
Byron & suv, thanks for your help. Messing around with the program after reading what you 2 wrote, I discovered there actually is a quick & easy way to copy both stroke & fill to format a new object without even using any special key combos or menu items. It works like this: 1) Click on ...

Formatting stroke & fill as per eyedropper?
I'd like to be able to quickly copy the stroke & fill from one object to another. I've figured out about using the eyedropped for gathering the stroke & fill data, but is it possible to assign that data to a newly selected object with just a click? Or, is it necessary to open the properties ...

Re: Setting "L-system" filter start coordinates?
I just took another good long look at the contents of the L-system extension dialog box and the page of its "Help" tab, with what you'd written in mind. I don't see anything there that would result in a vertical displacement of the L-system away from a screen center starting point. I think...

Re: Geometry Constructions
Maybe the Geometry tool could be made available as a plugin extension? A good place to make it available might be at http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... repository.

Re: Removing the default box in Inkscape
A little extra here... prkos just told me how to fix this, in that other thread. Reset the zoom of the display to make the page fill the work area, then save that zoomed blank document as "default.svg" in the Inkscape templates folder. (Inkscape/share/templates) Then, when you start up Ink...

Re: Setting "L-system" filter start coordinates?
Hmm... I understand the controls I found in the dialog box for the extension, but what you wrote about rendering at center of screen doesn't match what I found while using it - unless, of course, the rendering of an L-system generates a default vertical offset of about 250 pixels upward for placemen...

Re: Removing the default box in Inkscape
I'm fairly sure I understand your inquiry... I just posted an inquiry here that's related to your question, about zoom during startup. The "default box" you're referring to is Inkscape showing the outline of the page that was generated as per the values you'd set as the default under docum...

Setting "L-system" filter start coordinates?
I was experimenting with the "L-system" filter, and found that the generated structure always ends up beyond the top of the page. Is it possible to assign the coordinates where you'd like the start point of the L-system to be at? Or, alternatively, re-assign the default start coordinates? ...

Does Inkscape accept plugins?
Is Inkscape designed to accept plugins? And if yes, then where would you find them, and how would you install them? TIA.

Is it possible to set the default zoom for startup?
When Inkscape starts up, it generates an empty document as per my dimension settings - but, it sets the zoom at a level that makes the document about half the size of the work window. (Why so small?) Because of this, I always have to reset the zoom to page view as the 1st thing I do in Inkscape. It ...

Re: Geometry Constructions
This geometry tool seems like it could be an excellent addition to Inkscape. If it was rejected because the powers that be felt it didn't work right, then a good response would be to zero in on exactly what their objections were and then adjust the code of the geometry tool to try to nullify the obj...

Re: Saving as .XCF file in Inkscape v0.48?
~suv: Hi again! Boy, I'm glad you replied as quickly as you did. I went and tracked down a v0.47 copy of Inkscape, and was going to experiment via uninstalling v0.48 and installing v0.47. But, I checked back here first. Good thing, huh? I'm not sure what to think, about what you wrote about Inkscape...

Re: Saving as .XCF file in Inkscape v0.48?
~suv: Yes, I'd be glad to let you know which OS I use, but let me pause for a moment to wipe the egg off my face. There, that's better. I was mulling over the situation, digging into various files in the Inkscape program directory, when it hit me that I hadn't shared that particular detail with you ...

Re: Saving as .XCF file in Inkscape v0.48?
Okay, I read further in some other posts and I see that yes, I was missing something. Checking my extension-errors.log file, I discovered Extension "GIMP XCF" failed to load because a dependency was not met. Dependency: type: executable location: path string: gimp Gimp was previously insta...

Saving as .XCF file in Inkscape v0.48?
The online manual states that Inkscape pictures can be saved in .XCF format. I'm using Inkscape v0.48.0 r9654. When I open the "save as" dialog and check the drop-down list, the .XCF format isn't present; i.e., isn't listed there as an option. Is there some trick to saving in .XCF format t...

Re: Modify blur/opacity to border and fill, independently
Inkscape v0.48 (the version I have) can control the transparency values of fill and stroke independantly of each other for any given object.

Re: [Renamed] Blur Gradient
I think the Blur Gradient is a great idea, but perhaps a better term for the manner in which you envision it being used might be that the blurring construct is a "lens" that could be moved to affect the manner in which features it affects get perceived.

Re: Export as JPG?
Hi! Thanks for the replies. Brynn: I searched and searched. I couldn't find even one freeware program that was able to do a conversion between SVG and JPG. Not even one. Slow Dog: That's a good suggestion, exporting at something like 100x the intended final size. The bitmap could then be scaled into...

Re: Export as JPG?
I'm sorry, but it's simply not true to say that there's higher quality in the PNG copy. To illustrate this, I made a 1024x768 page in Inkscape and put a large black circle with no fill just slightly smaller than the page; nothing else. I exported the SVG as a PNG, then saved it as a PDF. I opened th...

Export as JPG?
I'm new to Inkscape and vector graphics, but I've already found that I'm dissatisfied with the quality achieved via exporting as PNG. Taking an exported PNG copy and zooming in, it's bitmap basis become quickly apparent with all the jagged edges on curves, angled lines; anything which doesn't follow...
