Programmatically running Inkscape
I have a manual procedure that I use to combine and manipulate images, and I'd like to automate it so that others can do it easily. It involves things such as embedding bitmaps, tracing and subtracting paths, clipping, applying filters and running extensions. Rather than try to port selected parts o...

Re: Separating disconnected parts of a path
I think I understand what you're saying, but then it's possible to simply delete all the nodes that make up one hollow circle and the other one remains intact. So even though it's a single compound path, they can still be *partially* separated without every last sub-path being completely broken apar...

Separating disconnected parts of a path
This is a bit hard to explain, so I've attached an example. It's the (greatly simplified) result of Inkscape's "Trace Bitmap", and comprises two hollow circles made up of a single path. I want to separate these shapes from each other, so I can, eg. colour them separately or simplify them. ...

Re: Exporting a blur so that Scribus can read it
They really come into their own when you're dealing with fluorescent or metallic paint, or embossed output. But I just use them because they colour is more reliable across different kinds of output material (paper, vinyl, cloth, etc). Hmmm. It shouldn't be so, but of course you are right. A signifi...

Re: Exporting a blur so that Scribus can read it
EDIT: I'm not sure that Scribus actually supports Blur in vector imports at all. I did a quick test and you're absolutely right - the PDF containing a blurred object looks right in a PDF viewer but the blur is not there in Scribus (though I'm still using Scribus 1.3.3.12) and not there in the scrib...

Re: Exporting a blur so that Scribus can read it
There's not much I can say that would be helpful. But I want to make you aware of this extension, which allows exporting Inkscape files to PDF using the CMYK color print model. Interesting. But that completely rasterises the output, so it's less than ideal. I'll see what else I can get first. Thank...

Exporting a blur so that Scribus can read it
Since Inkscape doesn't support CMYK or spot colours, I need to run my documents through Scribus before sending them to the printers. (If there's a better way, I'd love to know.) But I'm encountering problems when trying to open files containing blur effects. If I open the original Inkscape SVG or a ...

No... I mean, the "Fill and Stroke" dialog allows entering RGBA codes, but not Pantone color numbers.

Re: How do I get colors right for professional printing?
Almost all printshops are relaying on CMYK, therefor it would be nice if you could get your self a Pantone or similar tone/color chart. Real one, not on screen (which is the Plan B). If you manage to find appropriate/desired color on that chart, you are so close to entering the colors code (the one...

How do I get colors right for professional printing?
I've been using Inkscape for a long time, but only recently needed to get things professionally printed. When I did, results were not what I expected. I naively sent them the results of a "Save As..." PDF, and the dark green in my logo came out black, and what was meant to be a golden yell...

Re: Trouble using "pattern along path"
And I ended up adding almost 1000 nodes, using the Add Nodes extension (using a setting from a previous project, out of laziness). I didn't realise there was an extension to do this, I thought I would need to do it manually :) Since I don't understand your ultimate goal, I don't know if the above i...

Re: Trouble using "pattern along path"
Additionally, If you just want to bend the rectangle and don't want additional copies of it..might as well just bend it manually and use the circle as a guide. Convert the rectangle to a path if not done already, so you can bend it. A Matrix movie spoon bending quote comes to mind...sorry, still li...

Re: Trouble using "pattern along path"
It doesn't matter what pattern I use, or how many nodes it has, it always gets garbled. My original pattern had hundreds of nodes, and still got screwed up.
...isn't that what I'm doing?
Even better is to use the pattern along path path effect
...isn't that what I'm doing?

Trouble using "pattern along path"
In the attached Inkscape SVG file (made in 0.48.1 r9760), there's a circle and a rectangle with a piece cut out. I'd like to warp the rectangle so that it bends around the circle. I thought this could be achieved with the "Extensions" > "Generate from Path" > "Pattern along ...
