Joining/Filling objects (climate map)
Hello, I am trying to create a climate map, (like the koppen climate map), in which each shaded area represents a different climate. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing this using inkscape. I have the continent coastlines ready, but how do I draw each climate area without spaces between each on...

Select all - fill not uniform
Hello, I am trying to select all items on a layer, and fill them the same colour. However, some smaller items are being filled with a lower Alpha opacity so the colour is not uniform among all selected objects. Is there any option to make fill the same (including alpha) on all selected objects? Than...

Re: Problem with maps and colouring
Will they mask the ocean by default?
A problem I'm facing is that, if I colour the land say brown and change the opacity slightly, the inland seas also change in opacity and become a slightly different colour from the ocean. I'm probably missing a very basic or obvious step...
Thanks.

Problem with maps and colouring
Hello, I am currently trying to colour a map (an elevation map, with several different shaded areas). There are some 'inland seas' which I traced onto the same layer as the continents, so when I try to fill them the same colour as the ocean, they are affected by the continents' colours. Do I need to...

Combining paths
Hello all, I currently have quite an intricate coastline drawn out (mostly using the pencil tool), but as I haven't drawn it in one continuous stroke, and have stopped and started in various places, it seems that the coast is not one long path, and I can't fill it. Is there any way to join all the p...

Tracing a (raster) image, then removing the original?
Hi all, sorry to bother with my questions again. This time, I have imported a raster image which I am tracing manually with the bezier curves tool - once I have finished tracing, how do I remove the original raster image so I can colour and alter my new 'vector trace' as I like? As usual, I am proba...

Re: Selecting an area to be filled (bounded area)?
Thanks for the replies guys, sorry I forgot to mention it is a raster image. Tracing the coastline manually seems like it might work ok as long as I zoom in enough to not miss any parts.

Selecting an area to be filled (bounded area)?
Hello all, and thanks for the help so far - I have currently ran into another problem. I am trying to edit a map to show various dialect groups, I am doing this by shading selected areas and providing a key. My problem now is, when I draw a path around an area with one 'edge' being the coast, I cann...

Only outline showing when drawing shapes?
Hello all, I am very new to inkscape, so please bear with me and my questions. I am trying to draw a rectangle, but it is only showing me the 'outline' lines (the dotted lines) not a proper straight line when I draw it. Does anybody know how I can fix it or am I missing something? Have I perhaps cha...
