Re: Emailing an Inkscape file...
I'm looking at the svg file sent from INKSCAPE on my old computer to INKSCAPE on my new computer. The font didn't look the same. And now I notice that it's totally different!!! But it has the same name! Century Gothic 32! But wait!! There's that yellow-filled up-side-down triangle with an exclamatio...

Emailing an Inkscape file...
I wanna send an SVG file from Inkscape on one computer to another computer that has Inkscape installed on it. The image is a logo with blurred drop shadows and gradients. Up to now, I was trying to send SVG files to a client that did not have Inkscape. They only had Adobe Illustrator. The images arr...

Re: MODIFYING THE LETTER 'V'
The V has no serifs. So shouldn't I be able to just drag the corners up to the guideline? But I don't want the extending "line" to sway, making the V fatter or skinnier. When the node touched the guideline, some small text appeared. I could not see what it said.

Re: MODIFYING THE LETTER 'V'
I suspect the program isn't working perfectly. I've experienced this before. I tried out some key combinations and found that if I pressed CTRL+ALT, and dragged the top nodes up toward the guideline, the thickness was preserved, and the stretch snapped to the guedeline! But then it seemed to stop wo...

MODIFYING THE LETTER 'V'
My client wants me to make the first letter of a word bigger than all the other letters. I converted the text to a path so I could modify individual letters in the word. Then I carefully moved the V downward... and then I stretched the arms of the V from the top until the V was taller than the other...

Very small manipulation of the letters in text...
I created a logo for a friend's company. She brought to my attention the fact that the upper-case letter 'V' at the beginning of a word with lower-case letters after it, and some upper case letters at the end, looks too small, (the way the letter 'O' would, if it wasn't extended a bit on the top and...

change color of clone
I made a clone but I can't get it to be a different color than the source. I redd somewhere that I have to unset the color of the source object. But I can't get Google to even use the word "unset!" Can anyone tell me what to do? :( If possible, please tell me where to find stuff you might ...

I wanted to make a logo slightly larger than the canvas so the edges of the logo would be cut off. I was unable to make that happen. I thought I followed instructions but in the end, nothing happened. Can someone please help. I'm severely dyslexic so a "step-by-step" reply would be great if...

Re: KERNING TEXT ALONG WITH ITS SHADOW
Sorry, I'm not shouting! When answering a long text, I usually used caps within the text I received because I can't see well, and I get confused if I don't. I'll just have to use spacing or something instead. I tried to use color but I couldn't seen to get it to work.

Re: KERNING TEXT ALONG WITH ITS SHADOW
Hello: -Are you using a clone of the text? I MADE A COPY OF THE MAIN TEXT OBJECT AND PUT IT UNDERNEATH. IS THAT COPY A CLONE? -Do you have grouped two text objects? I GROUPED THE TWO TEXT OBJECTS. THEY MOVE TOGETHER WITH THE SELECTION TOOL BUT NOT IN THE TEXT TOOL. -Are you using filters, or just th...

KERNING TEXT ALONG WITH ITS SHADOW
I have text with a blurred shadow. I need to do some kerning. But when I try, only the top text object moves. I tried selecting outside the text tool and grouping… and I donno what else. At one point both the text and the shadow DID move together but for some reason, not anymore! Can anyone help me ...

Re: DISAPPEARING SHADOWS!
I exported a PNG to the GIMP, (a raster program). The blurred shadow did not copy! Everything else did. The only way I was even able to send the completed image to the client was to do a screen-dump of the image. Then the blurred shadow had no choice but to stay put. So is this a bug in Inkscape? Bl...

DISAPPEARING SHADOWS!
I created a logo with shadowed text. I'm thinking I may've done it the wrong way. The text has a blurred shadow under it. At first I noticed that the BLUR disappeared after I did some things to the file…. such as UNGROUPing the image. Turing the layer off and on again fixed that. I thought nothing o...

It's as if Inkscape is unstable! I've been losing files… and I had to do things over a number of times. So I wanna send the main file to a friend for safe-keeping. The artwork is for her eventually anyway. I wanna "save as"... (change the file type from SVG to PNG). This hasn't been happen...

Re: cutting off part of an object...
OK, I'm almost at my wit's end here! I'm trying to do a real project for a real company when both me and the computer software aren't playin' with a full deck! :) This logo will be printed... on business cards, various other hard copies... and it'll be on their website as well. I doubt if it will be...

Re: cutting off part of an object... ANOTHER UPLOAD...
ACCENT.svg I'm going to fix the swish the way you described. But what I didn't tell you, (because I'm such a confused person), is the file I sent you isn't the original swish. It's a version that I already tried to repair with scotch tape and bubble gum. Maybe the original file will be easier to fi...

Surrounding the swish are various markings, either broken of the swish or just experiments to see if commands will work when it doesn't involve the swish.

Re: cutting off part of an object...
I will provide the svg file in my next post. I did solve the color problem I think. But "Union," "Difference," and all the other commands of that type on the "Path" menu, won't work on the swish. But they work in other situations. So I'm thinking the swish has settings ...
