I confirm the file is empty and nothing can be done to save this file.
Maybe you can recover previous versions of your work ("hidden" in a temporary directory or "deleted") using tools such as photorec https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec bu there's no guarantee at all.

I'm not sure what you are asking for. Could you provide a sample image and tell us what's wrong with tracing it?

Re: filter changes bounding box size
What kind of filter are you applying ? Some filters (drop shadow...) need extra space around the image so that they can be applied. Some (inner shadow...) probably don't need these space but it is still there until you explicitly remove it. I don't have inkscape before me right now, but to remove it...

Re: All menu text broken (Win 10, 0.92.4, x64)
You right it looks like a general font issue with gtk (pango dll?) (and not only inkscape). It looks a bit like this one https://github.com/tomboy-notes/tomboy/issues/60 Maybe you can set a defaut font in gtk ? https://forum.gtkd.org/groups/GtkD/thread/57/ But -if it ever worked- this wll probably o...

Re: Setting CSS layer blend modes
What are you trying to achieve ? Unless you're trying to do compositing/blending (=merging a set of svg with html ) on the clientside I don't see what is the problem. Taken as a whole a svg with its filters should display fine. Otherwise it is a bug in the browser. Caniuse says that support for mix-...

Re: Problem Opening DXF
Which operating system ? Which version of inkscape ? Look for a file named "dxf_input.py" somewhere on your drive. It seems that this file (=program) has been altered. You should be able to edit this file with any (decent) text editor. (You probably should avoid notepad) it -probably- shou...

Re: Trouble with DXF File
You can't do a straight conversion from a jpg to dxf. There are two different type of files. Dxf is vector : it's made of (generally a few) circle, lines, rect and so on, while jpeg is bitmap : it's a -very very- large array of dots. You can try to vectorize your image (go from bitmap to vector) usi...

Don't expect a curve editor.

Re: Sides of letters look like spiral rope.
AFAICT this is normal. Even if inkscape is a vector program, at the very end the image should be turned into a bitmap to be displayed on a screen. aliasing.png Inkscape (and 99% of vector program) will apply an antialiasing filter to smooth out the results. antialiasing.png Antialiasing could be avo...

Re: Sides of letters look like spiral rope.
This is caused by aliasing or rather antialiasing in this case. The image is a matrix of dot. You can't break down the dot and sometimes "mathematically" you face the problem of the color you should give to the dot : if the black line goes through the dot but it only fills 33% of the dot a...

@v1nce Thank you for your suggestion. Would there be anything specific that you would like to see changed? 'Sucks' and 'UI is bad' are very general descriptions. There's a wiki that is 7 years old of what the spec filter editor should be http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/SpecFilterEditorUI an...
