Re: Wich Plugin I shall use for this effect for plotter?

I would recommend using the app Imaengine if you have and iPhone or iPad or the web app at cutecutter.com These use combination methods that are much easier than doing the same thing in Inkscape or Gimp, at least for me.

Re: Inverting an image that's already traced as a Bitmap

The problem here is that there is no white line in this font. There is merely open space that your brain interprets as a line. In order to trace it, you have to give it a boundary. One way to do this is to just block the ends with black rectangles, then use the paint bucket tool to trace the white, ...

My workaround is to use Font Lab Pad to generate a quick SVG, but if you want to rename fonts, here's a good tutorial http://themissy.com/2018/font-tutorial- ... ganization

I would suggest fiverr or something like that but don't limit the search to Inkscape as any font design program can probably be used for this in the right hands.

Re: Question on creating a font file (svg to tff)

I did a tutorial on this back in 0.46 days but I used a dingbat font since I couldn't get kerning to work then. As far as I know kerning has never worked, but I haven't checked the latest version.

Just wondering if you have made any progress on this @mulholland or anyone else. The iOS app imaengine hatch filter does some things similar to this. See also the Trimaginator app.

Re: making text non editable

When you get the text error message when you know you converted to path, click through the error and it should work fine in DS. As far as the wandering parts, take Tyler's advice and ungroup everything. Also, best practice for DS is to combine (assuming non-overlapping) or union (for overlapping) in...

SketchMee iOS app for converting photos to vector strokes

I put together a tutorial on converting photos to vector strokes for pen plotting with the SketchMee iOS app ($3.99 for vector output option). My focus has been on Cricut and Silhouette, but believe this info could be useful for other pen plotters or drawbots. http://cleversomeday.com/sketchmee http...

Re: Using fonts without installing them

My workaround for not having to install fonts, or for fonts that don't display in Inkscape is to use a utility called Font Lab Pad to save words/phrases as SVG, then bring into Inkscape that way.

An easier way might be to install the Eggbot extensions and use its adjustable hatching feature. http://wiki.evilmadscientist.com/The_Eggbot_Extensions but I have never used this with HPGL so can't say for sure

Re: Fill shape with lines

I've been looking for something like this for years. The closest I've come is halftoning with tiled clones, but that doesn't work with lines. I've also posterized the image and applied various hatch densities by hand. http://cleversomeday.com/sketchpix/

Re: arched text with the Envelope LPE problem

Raspi, My audience is crafters who usually don't have a basic knowledge of Inkscape. I try to make things as foolproof as possible for them and eliminate steps where possible. Since the path has to be exactly 4 nodes, and has to start at upper left and go clockwise, there is a lot of room for error....

Raspi, Yes, I did see your screen shot and no, I didn't think it looked good. That's why I said I didn't understand why it isn't working for you. Mine looks like this. I do think the issue is asymetrical nodes as I mentioned. (I need to fix some of them in the download. I don't think this was an iss...

Oh, I totally agree with that about the LPE, (I can't think of a case when you would want it all wobbly like that) just not sure why Bezier Envelope is not working for you.

Unless I'm not understanding what you want to do, Bezier Envelope works for me without doing each letter separately.
http://cleversomeday.com/textwarpink/ I do have to be careful on the ones with top and bottom curve to get the nodes symmetrical.

Has anyone got the glyph panel working in Ink .92? This is the feature I am most looking forward to, but haven't actually seen it in action yet. Pasted below is the blurb from the release notes. How would one go about linking Inkscape to a recent version of the Pango library if that is what is requi...

I think this would be a good feature, too, as this is common in diecutting software. An interim workaround is to use the Paint Bucket Tool, which lets you specify offset in pixels in the tool settings.
