printing on A4 + 1cm (ie 210x307) Inkscape adjust vertical coordinates, that's normal, and horizontal too and that's not. Now I lost left and right sides of my rectangle.

I can deal with vertical with a ratio, but why are horizontal coords adjusted ? I've left it to 210mm. grrr

I've tried some other documents, simpler being just an A4 document with a rectangle and the result is a rectangle with a missing side on the paper. Yes I currently started with a dedicated layer for labels, as your first suggestion. Implementing an extension is perhaps a solution, I will see that. If I correctly understand the display style attribute description on svg.org, it can not help me. AFAIU the norm svg has no knowledge of final device...

is there a way to tell inkscape to never print an object or layer (eg to hide it from print but not from screen) ?
goal is to have templates with labels shapes to draw on it, but we dont want to print the shapes...
