Re: Overlapping text colours behind a gradient
Thanks, Ragnar! Originally every line was a discrete text block, but I redid the document with large text blocks instead, and your way works perfectly.

Overlapping text colours behind a gradient
Quite basic for most, but I've been hammering away at this for a couple of hours and I just can't figure it out. I've got a series of text entries in a vertical line. I want to fade the text from one colour (yellow) at the top to another colour (black) at the bottom. I'd like this to be done with a ...

Re: Fading by shape?
That looks amazing! Unfortunately, I can't get past the pattern fill part for the first hexagon -- instead of filling the hex with the pattern image, it fills it with a shrunken, tiled version of the image.

Re: How to select multiple objects for grouping on a Mac?
If I understand your question correctly, all you need to do is hold down your left mouse button and drag over all the objects you want to group, then hit Control-G (not command-G, unless you've swapped that around in your X11 preferences). You can also select a single object with the left mouse butt...

Fading by shape?
Here's what I'm attempting to do -- I'd like to know if there's a better way to go about it. I'm trying to make hexagonal game pieces. Each game piece consists of: 1. A background image 2. A border around the whole hexagon, created by putting one hexagon inside another. The space between the smaller...

Re: Can't paste text into Inkscape (Mac)
Thank you for the reply! As it turns out, some lateral thinking turned up the answer: it wasn't an Inkscape problem per se, but an X11/Pasteboard/Clipboard problem. I had to leave Inkscape and adjust the Pasteboard settings in X11 to link up to the native Mac clipboard. For the record, the text did ...

Can't paste text into Inkscape (Mac)
I'm hoping to take text that I've written in a text editor and paste into Inkscape. When I do, nothing happens. No text appears. If I have something previously copied in the Inkscape clipboard, that element remains in the clipboard, regardless of what I've copied in other programs. X11: XQuartz 2.3....
