Snapping rectangle edges to rectangle edges
In the attached file, I would like to make the yellow boundary fit snugly inside the green boundary. Very much like it is now, but now it is just "floating", where as I'd like it to be "attached". How would I go about this? Once this yellow outline is snapped inside the green squ...

Re: Applying a texture leaves dividing lines
Ah, you're right. I actually didn't open the file in the new inkscape, but rather used a command line command to use the new inkscape to convert the file to a pdf (which is my actual use case). I still see the lines in the output pdf with okular, but they are gone in Acrobat Reader. Very strange... ...

Re: Applying a texture leaves dividing lines
I compiled inkscape trunk, and the issue seems to still be there. Were you saying to just wait until the release of 4.9? Or is it actually still being worked on?

Applying a texture leaves dividing lines
When I apply a custom texture to an object, there are dividing lines between where the texture is tiled. Here is a screenshot: daviddoria.com/Uploads/bricks.jpg (here is the original file: daviddoria.com/Uploads/bricks.svg ) The lines are visible when I export to a pdf as well. Strangely, when I vie...

Text positioning different in Windows and Linux
When I open this file http://daviddoria.com/Uploads/house.svg in the same version of Inkscape in Windows: http://daviddoria.com/Uploads/windows.jpg and Linux: http://daviddoria.com/Uploads/linux.jpg the text is positioned differently (as you can see in the screenshots - the "d + epsilon" n...

Clipping a curve with an object
I am trying to turn the attached curve_square.svg into the (also) attached curve_square_2.svg. I tried using Path -> Division and then doing some node editing, but it doesn't work quite right (curve_square_2.svg "looks" correct, but the paths are wacky (there are 4 nodes on one of the end ...

Fixing the position of one node while joining nodes
When I select two end point nodes and click "join nodes", they seem to kind of meet in the middle. Is there anyway to say "move node A to node B" (so that B doesn't move in the process)?
Thanks,
David

Re: Clipping line ends
llogg, Great, that did the trick! I guess I'm a bit confused about why you have to duplicate the rectangle first? It indeed does not work without duplicating it first (the entire curve gets deleted during the Division operation). Can you explain kind of the "thought process" of what is goi...

Re: Clipping line ends
It seems like you cannot join nodes from different paths? I selected the rectangle and the curve and did Path -> Combine. Unfortunately at this point the colors are controlled by the same color. Even if that was ok, I selected a node on the rectangle and a node on the path and clicked "Join sel...

Re: Clipping line ends
Ok, I tried the Path ->Intersection on two rectangles and it works how I would expect: daviddoria.com/Uploads/intersection1.jpeg http://daviddoria.com/Uploads/intersection2.jpeg Then I tried it on a bezier curve and a rectangle: http://daviddoria.com/Uploads/bezier1.jpeg http://daviddoria.com/Upload...

Re: Clipping line ends
Thanks, I see what you're saying about the clipping. However, then it just leaves the same problem on the inside of the rectangle (the top part of the thick curve doesn't go all the way to the edge of the rectangle. So is the short answer "Inkscape can not "join" two things like this ...

Clipping line ends
If I draw a rectangle and a curve, then turn on "snap to paths" and drag the end of the curve so that it snaps to the side of the rectangle - the "corner" of the thick curve sticks out (does not "blend in" to the rectangle outline) - here is an example: http://daviddori...

Can't find libgc
When configuring Inkscape, I got an error that said it needed libgc6.4+. I built and installed to a location on PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH gc6.8. I then reconfigured Inkscape and there was no change.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
David

Re: Open source project in need of some graphics
The images, at least for the first several, will indeed be quite straight forward. We have come up with a preliminary list of things we would like to see: http://www.itk.org/Wiki/ITK/DocumentationGraphics Particularly, the "Easy Diagrams" would be a great place to start :) I think the best...

Open source project in need of some graphics
Hi all, I am working with an open source image processing project (ITK: http://www.itk.org) on improving the documentation in an effort to reduce the learning curve. To do this, we are trying to draw documentation images. I tried to make a few of these images: http://www.itk.org/Doxygen/html/structi...

Re: Missing "Continue Path from Point"
I see, even if I don't click on the correct "intersection" of all the lines, it still says "handle to path" snapping. I just need to make sure to click at the very "outside" of the intersection so it snaps to the right point and then the lines seems to merge/blend/chop ...

Re: Missing "Continue Path from Point"
I see, if I just go ahead and click near "A" it says "snapped" (even though it doesn't indicate that it is going to snap before I click, which is what I was expecting). Also, when I have more than 2 lines converging at a point, it looks "messy" - the square end of a lin...

Re: Missing "Continue Path from Point"
Ah, if I turn on "snap to paths" on the snap toolbar it lets me snap the end point of a new line, but how do I snap the beginning point?

Re: Missing "Continue Path from Point"
Hm, I turned on all of the snapping options in DocumentProperties->Snap but still when I draw a line it doesn't seem to indicate that it wants to snap to an existing line or line end-point. Am I missing something?

Missing "Continue Path from Point"
If I draw a line with the Bezier curve tool, I can then hover over a box around either end point of the line and click to "continue path from this point" to draw another line starting at exactly the same point. I am trying to draw a triangle fan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_fan)....

Tracing a bitmap
I am trying to use the tracer to convert this to a vector format: http://daviddoria.com/Uploads/map.png . The only settings in the "Mode" tab that I can get to work produce double lines (on either side of the lines in the bitmap). Can anyone tell me how to trace this but make the vector li...

Very strange - I went to do it again so I could take a screenshot (I should have done this in the first place, sorry) and it seems to be working fine now... if I see it happen again I'll report back with a screenshot.

Arrows on Bezier curves
I use the Bezier curve tool (click and drag to get a curve, then double click to finish it) to draw a curve. Then I apply an "Arrow1Lend" end marker, and it the arrow head doesn't show up in a reasonable place. Is this a known limitation? Or is there a better way to make this arrow head? T...
