Re: Help with text project/logo for anti-water pollution
This is for a good thing...I had to cheat a little with coreldraw...the one part of inkscape that's missing, is the thing that gets it done...Hope these work out for you...can always rescale the vector. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/81681/longlook/fish1.eps http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/81681/longlook/fis...

Re: Background turning transparent when saving as eps
OK... I've just done some tests with a windows .47 dev version ( Inkscape 0.46+devel r21627 ) Same results...the background (paper) doesn't export. I've also just tested in CorelDraw X3, and it produces the same results. I think this IS the expected behavior though, David. As EPS is a vector format,...

Re: Background turning transparent when saving as eps
Usually people want to know how to do the opposite of what you want, David! lol Anyway, what should work for you, is to just use the rectangle tool & draw a box the size you want, make sure it's white. Then remove the stroke, then send it to the bottom. Re-try exporting/saving as an .eps Hope th...

Re: cannot save file in .eps format then open in Signcut
I'm unfamiliar with this program you are using, as i'm sure many of us here are. But I'll give it a go :) First of all, when doing a save as .eps, be sure to get rid of any raster data before saving. By this I mean delete the pixel images you traced from. Then drag select the paths you wish to save....

Re: trim image and save image-trimmed permanently
Save it first as a .svg to preserve the original file, then export as a .png.
When you export as a .png you will lose all of your vector data, but you will keep the raster image clipped to the shape via transparency. Hope that's what you're trying to do & what I've said makes sense![Smile :)](images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Re: how to "bend" a gradient?
Hi Brynn. This isn't the perfect solution...but it might work if you can't come up with another solution. I forgot to number the frames (they are layed out a'la comic book style. The parts that pass the borders could be either masked or difference deleted. I just left it all there to help show what ...

Nicely done. The method you've used here for the shading is really effective! Also I love the user name

What are the specs of your computer? I don't get anywhere near that level of complexity before Inkscape becomes pretty much unusable...
Also, I agree with Brynn. "Show us the way sir!"![Smile :)](images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Re: problem with fonts
I think you answered your own question, Pospec. Inkscape is very picky about which fonts will work. This font likely has some incompatibility issues with Inkscape due to flaws in the font itself.

Re: Converting a bunch of nodes into some paths
It might be helpful to pull the 'ROX' off of the rest of the logo temporarily to make it easier to see what you're doing here. Also make a copy first...just in case something goofs up. path - break apart view - display mode - outline shift + click select the outline of main text one letter at a time...

sor2005 In the early stages of your endeavor, I think you should focus on the functionality and efficiency of the product first. Get all of the basic features, effects, stability, etc. all figured out & solid. Then get it out there for peeps to test. Find bugs, squash bugs, request features, add...

Re: Vector Magic Desktop Edition
I have tried the Vector Magic app and it does work really well. That $295. price point is a little out of whack in my opinion though... For another $100. someone could purchase Corel Graphics Suite or Adobe Illustrator, both which have an equally good streamlining/trace function and alot more (parti...

The candle looks great and I like how you overlapped the frosting on the rocky bitmap. A few more highlights and shadows on the frosting and cup. Really good work Brynn!

Re: how do the pros handle these issues?
Hi Brynn. I think you basically answered your own question for the first part. The vector format is designed for scaling. So if someone intends to print a vector as a raster type image, they would use the original vector, scale it to the intended size...then convert it to a raster format that suppor...

Re: Small caps in text
Hi nwhitehe.
Small caps actually depends on the font itself. Some fonts simply are not designed with proper small caps.
