Is there a simple way to do this?

Re: Inkscape approximates desired dimensions
It's not in the devel version, so I guess it's fixed.

Inkscape approximates desired dimensions
When I have something (let's say 50 px long) that I want to make longer (90 px), inkscape doesn't go immediately to 90px if I enter it in the Width field. Instead, it goes to 80.7, then to 89.6, then to 89.993, etc. It takes several entries to make it 90. How can I eliminate this behavior?

Oh, OK then. Just as long as it's not a bug unique to me.

Memory usage
For some reason, inkscape's memory usage can spike to 50% on a dual core system. I am using ubuntu 8.10. Is this normal?

Thank you, early blake, that is exactly what I was looking for. It's too bad that there is no simpler way though.

Re: Tessellations?
Ok. Picture one: The square has been cloned and tiled. Top right is real. Picture two: One side of square has been bent. Other side has not been bent in the exact same way. Notice the varying thickness of the border due to incorrect alignment. What I want to do is to bend two sides in the exact same...

Tessellations?
I am trying to achieve a tessellation effect with inkscape. I was able to successfully tile clones with the 'Tile Clones' dialog, but the thing that gets me is trying to move the opposite borders of a figure (let's say a square) exactly together.

[solved] Overlapping transparancies
Attached is an svg with two partly transparent groups. If you overlap them, then the transparancies affect each other. Is there a way to avoid this?

Re: RSS Icon
I realize that, but that is not as precise as deleting nodes. Is there a way to delete nodes from a circle and not have a complete circle left over?

I want to know how to make an rss icon. I found the following tutorial, but it is for illustrator and I'm not sure how to do it in inkscape. I am having problems with making the waves from a circle.

I do know how to use them, but I don't know how to use them to make flames. Sorry if I come across as stupid.

How to Make a Flame Effect

So what I am asking is how you closed the path without going to the starting point.

No. Okay, let me rephrase this: I need to make a beizer that is not a closed shape, like in step one on the original link in post 1.

Re: Make Thin Beizer
No, what I meant was this: See how that beizer curve is thin and not closed? Like it's only the thickness of it's stroke? That's what I want to do.
