When you seeing it in svg display, it is likely due to screen rendering... you might not see it at different zoom levels. When you see it in rendered bitmaps, it may be due to pixel-fitting and/or antialiasing. Do you have any info about getting rid of it from the exported png? It's normally not th...

Image clipping problem...
For sake of easy explaination of what is happening, I have included an image. I have been using inkscape for years and can't recall having this problem. If I clip an image, then place an identical shape that I used to clip the image with, over the newly shaped image...then the pictures edges show up...
