I usually save pdf-file from illustrator.
Get better results than saving as svg.
And drag pdf-file straight into inkscape.
Give it a try.

Why HSL color space in inkcape....?
Hello, since Inkscape uses HSL-color space in the fill and stroke dialog the saturation slider behaves very different compared to GIMP, PS or Illustrator, which use HSB-colorspace. I wish inkscapes saturation slider would also be based on the HSB-colorspace. Am I the only one who find this confusing?

Re: Find Object by Stroke Width
yes it is possible: the stroke width changes internally once you scaled or transformed a path or object. In order to get the absolute value to search for: 1. select the type of path that you are looking for 2. open XML Editor (Shift+ctrl+L) 3. in attribut style you find the entry "stroke-width:...

Re: How can i create a racetrack?
llogg: I like your solution, helped me to understand more about "pattern along path" For the racetrack there is another solution to it: 1. convert ellips to path (shift+ctlr+C) 2. Duplicate ellipse 3. do "path"-->"dynamic offset" The offset can be afterwards defined via...

Re: Reducung SVG file size even more ??
I'm wondering what I can do to make sure my SVG file sizes are as small as possible.
When you have a drawing with hundreds or thousands of single objects (path) combine them to a single path (provides they share the same style, of course). This reduces the file size a lot.

combining complex paths (Ctrl + K); 0.47 freezes, 0.46 fine
I opened a complex dxf-drawing (saved as pdf from SolidWorks). File A) combined 1700 objects with "Ctrl + K": Inkscpae 0.46-->1sec; Inkcape 0.47-->80sec File B) combined 3000 objects with "Ctrl + K": Inkscpae 0.46-->2sec; Inkcape 0.47-->freezes This really looks like a major bug....

0.47 too slow with wacom tablet
I have been using inkcape 0.46 professionally for technical illustration for quite a while now. Most of our linedrawings are based on 3D-Cad data. The model is saved from SolidWorks as a as a dxf-drawing (Well I save it as a pdf). Importing these complex models in Inkscape results in up to 50.000 si...

Re: 0.47 installation on Windows WP does not work properly
Thanks Klomp123; I had almost given up to get my tablet working.
Setting screen mode to "screen" did not work at first. I had to toggle the device settings back and forth to finally get it activated.
It seems buggy.

Re: tiled clones, color tab, HSL Qs
Hi Brynn,
you are right: on Windows, Java 5.0 or later must be installed to get this 3D color inspector running.
Sorry I didn´t know that.
It just worked on my computer, so I didn´t give a thought about it what the jar-file extension actually means.

Hi Brynn, I´ve uploaded the "ColorInspector3D" file to MediaFire for you, just to make sure you get the correct file. It works fine on windows. I use it at home and also at work. The other day we tested it on my friend´s Mac. No problem at all. Just double-click on the this jar file. http:...

Re: tiled clones, color tab, HSL Qs
Hi Brynn, I havent´t got time to play around with tiles and colors right now. But I´m sure this precious little app "Color inspector 3D" will help you to find the answer yourself. It´s a 3D visualization of colorspaces such as RGB, HSL, LAB etc. You can open a image of your choice and it´s...

Re: Problem to rotate Characters with ALT + [
well I do have a german keboard. And ALT + [ doesn´t work either.
However the way I usually get arround this is:
I change my language keyboard setting on "en" (Windows).
Then I use the "ü"-key and "*"-key instead on my german keyboard, and it works fine.

1. create a rectangel (as big as the wanted table)
2. select rectangle

Tipp: open complex 3D-Exports from 3D-CAD with inkscape
I´ve been sucessfully using inkscape for technical illustration for arround a year know. However today I thougt for a while I might have to switch back to illustrator because opening uge 3D-exports (more than 50.000 nodes) made inscape crash at first. However, I finally found a way to get going agai...
