Re: svg file is blank upon opening
Yes, probably. Unless you accidentally converted all contents of your drawing to patterns. You can do Object > Pattern > Pattern to objects on a patterned object to convert it back, if that's the case.

Re: Copying Text Put on Path (moving text relative to a line)
Sorry, it's not clear to me what you want yet. So, what I understand is: You want to have a text that follows a path, and is centered on that. Text > Put on path works for you. It seems you want to have the same text linked to a different line, is that correct? If that is the case, then: - Ctrl+C th...

There's a known issue, maybe that is yours, too:

Re: svg file is blank upon opening
The file contains nothing but ~15 patterns with different amounts of stars, and lots of gradient definitions.
If you did File > Clean up document, it would be entirely empty (78500 definitions - i.e. gradients, filters, patterns - would be removed).

:) It's the Pen tool. Maybe it would be enough to rename the 'Advanced' tutorial in the 'Help' menu ... It contains the info you're looking for. I think you might also like to have a look at a beginner-friendly manual, like https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html or a tutorial s...

If you don't get a reply here (I think there aren't any macOS experts here on this forum, and I'm not one, either), try the user chat at https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/inkscape_user or the forum at https://inkscape.org/forums.

Re: svg file is blank upon opening
Autsave is set up once, and will work for every document that you will open from then on. However, if Inkscape crashes in the session when you have set Autosave up, the setting change (along with any other setting changes) may be lost. Larger files could be shared via services like dropbox, nextclou...

Inkcut is a third-party extension, right? Have you asked in the place the author suggests for asking? (whereever you got it from, there may even be multiple sources).

Re: svg file is blank upon opening
I don't know, it's hard to tell without seeing the actual file. It appears there is still a lot of data there, but it could also be garbage.
Autosave is available via Edit > Preferences > Input/Output > Autosave .

Can you share such a file, please? And also make a screenshot of the 'Save as' or better 'Save a copy' dialog just before you hit the save button?

Re: clipping paths with other paths
You want to use Boolean operations (and possibly, path editing). Learn about them here: https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/boolean-operations.html and here: https://vektorrascheln.de/posts/2015/Dec/inkscape-fuer-einsteiger-teil-ii-praxis-en..html#46;

Re: Automating Inkscape process
This won't currently work within Inkscape. Dialogs in Inkscape do not take parameters via command line. You would need to automate the clicking in the user interface. I'd recommend you use an external library (e.g. potrace or autotrace) directly to trace. There is a python extension that uses autotr...

Yes. There are several extensions for it. One of them is https://gitlab.com/su-v/inx-exportobjects , but there are others. Search for 'inkscape animation extension' to find more.

I'd try the sequence Path > Stroke to Path, Path > Union, Path > Break apart, Path > Union. There might be shorter ways.

Is there a 'recent files' list on Windows somewhere? I suppose there's something in it that cannot be reached, like an external or remote drive.

Try it - I made a couple examples. It only works on Linux, though. The version for 1.0 should work on Windows, too, but only with 1.0(beta).

That is, indeed, strange. I haven't heard of the issue you are describing before. It's not a temporary thing, right? I.e. after a restart of the system, it's still broken?

Re: Stroke aberration
Yes, please use the palette at the bottom to fill your shapes, or open the Fill and Stroke dialog to set fills and strokes for your objects. This will give much more exact results than the paint bucket, and in many cases, will reduce the number of objects in your drawing - which is important if you ...

Re: Removing / Hiding tools in the tool pallete
There is a way to do this via the UI file that is in Inkscape's share/ui directory. It's simple xml, easy to edit. If you then also disable the keyboard shortcuts by editing the keys.xml file in the share/keys directory, they will not even be reachable by accidentally pressing random keys. Make sure...
