The bezier tool was just an example. I am sorry for not being clear enough. I wanted to edit the question after i posted it but unfortunately could not do so until the topic was approved. Anyway getting back to my problem, in many tutorials I see only the Keyboard shortcut, and not the way to launch...

Finding the gui way of running keyboard commands
This question might seem a little weird for the pros out there but how do i find out the way of launching a command i have from the inkscape gui? For example i know that shift+f6 will launch the bezier tool but how do i do it from the GUI.

I installed inkscape using the ubuntu software center. However i observe that the menu bar is missing. Does anyone know how to bring it back.
