Re: path edit - can it be done?
*flop* >v< Darn, so in the end, the question you had was really more along the lines of "Can my web browser make me a cup of coffee?". ^___________^; Fortunately, the answer to both questions CAN be in the affirmative as long as you approach them differently. [in the coffee example, you ca...

Re: how to add images to posts
Yeah, you'd have to follow Sas' links. Unless you own webspace somewhere, you'd need a special image service to host your files online (hence, the http:// prefix).
Without it, all you can really do is just upload attachments instead -- but don't worry, we'd check those out too.

Re: Help getting started? Coming from Illustrator
Oh yeah, that workbench image is just for fun reference (since there's so many types of workbenches), and is probably nowhere near what InkCat has in mind.
But you did just remind me that I've never used the Axonometric grid feature before.... shame on me.
*puts trying it on to-do list*

Re: how to add images to posts
haha! Shibas are indeed beautiful dogs (with adorably cute puppies) and perfect in every single way.... as long as you don't mind your dog behaving like a cat and pretty much owning you. :P Oh, making that image into a link is easy. Just add it to your message with no tags whatsoever. Observe... :D ...

Re: how to add images to posts
Hi there! Well it's always okay to add stuff as an attachment, although granted it has more visual impact to post it within your message. :) Notice that in the forum post toolbar (the one that starts with "B, I, U, Quote, etc"), there is a button that says "img". This is the imag...

lol! You sure you want to draw while you're that sick? Don't want you to pass out on the keyboard here. ;) Now with the extra description I have a much clearer idea of what you want to do. [sounds pretty cool, btw, I used to do some light carpentry myself] :) [for the uninitiated, this is more or le...

Re: Help getting started? Coming from Illustrator
Hello InkCat [meow]. ;) Funny, had things worked a little differently in my life, I'd probably be right next to you using Illustrator and maybe just now having a curious interest in Inkscape. I would almost venture to say it was a momentous turning point in my hobbyist life. In any event, glad...

Re: change the interface's default colour for transparent image
Hmmm... I don't believe I've ever seen something like this in the Preferences screen,... since GIMP does it that way, I imagine this would make for a nice "wishlist" item. :) But whenever I'm editing light objects, I do just temporarily enable a funky background color to help make it stand...

Re: Three lines coming from one point
Granted there is no "proper" solution to your problem -- as was stated, the SVG format doesn't do branching, and as far as I know it might be all the better for it (who knows what mess could result if it did). :P Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to 'game the system' so to speak, with ...

Hmmm, now I wonder if it's an issue with the font. :( Oh well, I guess if you want to end it here we'll have no choice. ^__^ But I don't want to turn down a good challenge, so why don't you post a sample of the text you want to add into Inkscape, so I can at leats tinker away and find out what the d...

Re: snap to end of line
Hello Grobe, :) Do you enable the Grid while drawing your schematics? With the grid enabled, your Pen Tool :tool_pen: will snap to specific coordinates along the grid, so binding two separate strokes together is very easy this way. By default the ends are not perfectly blended, but if you give the s...

Re: Problem with missed Font
Agree, you can even open the SVG in a plain text editor, and look for the name of the font in the aforementioned places. When you find the name, see if you can find that font online so you can install it on your system, and your problem will be magically fixed next time you open that file in Inkscap...

Re: Perspective/Envelopiong
Hmmm... you got me there.... We know we can't use Perspective/Envelope on a group of objects, and using Path Effects on a path and its clone causes a lot of weirdness (at least in my copy). Unless someone more knowledgeable can chime in, I can only recommend staying the course and using Envelope or ...

Re: Engl Chinese Simp
Hi there, Glad you feel that Inkscape has been very useful to you, barring the small problems you're having with the Chinese fonts ;) What OS are you running Inkscape on? I know I did have some trouble before (in Kubuntu) pasting Japanese text (which has some Kanji) into Inkscape from certain source...

Re: Should I input Text to the Logo in Inkscape or Scribus?
Regarding your second question, stuff like that (especially with regards to a megacorporation like Sony) are generally considered "trade secrets", so we're really not suppose to know what they used to create their original logo. We could guess all we want, but for all we know they probably...

A new Ubunchu wallpaper to promote our new mailing list ("Club Ubunchu"). It is a vectorized version of a quick hand-sketch that the author, Hiroshi Seo, posted. Unlike my other wallpapers, this time I put in some effort to add variable-width linart using the calligraphy tool, in order to ...

Wow! That is so COOL! Yo Dman! You Da man! >v< [sorry, couldn't resist] Quick question 4U.... What exactly is sand-carving? Do you mean like sand castles and the like? What tools do you usually use to do that (I reckon water, sand and hands, but maybe there's trowels and stuff involved). A good idea of the art form...

Re: Changing colours in previously coloured artwork
I had a tablet back in my old raster days, stopped using it around the time I got more comfortable with Inkscape, but now using it again for more advanced stuff. It's like a fashion trend, I reckon, but I am happier using it since that way I feel I get my money's worth. ^^; Hmmm.... hard to really s...

lol! Well true, I do have "Last Used Style" enabled on all my tools, but never put 2 and 2 together and realized that might be what was screwing me over. Perfect, I'll give that a try. I do like my "Last Used Style", but if disabling it momentarily can stamp out that other odd be...

Re: Changing colours in previously coloured artwork
Coolness. ^^b I can definitely see how the hand-drawn look would be essential, and lately I've been experimenting with getting quick amorphous shapes and textures done in Inkscape (although admittedly, it is best served with a tablet, lol). ^___^ Here's a recent example of mine that uses a little bi...
