Re: texts on circle
I was forced to be away for a lengthy time. I apologize for my belated answer. I don't know how you managed to open this PDF because I just tried and couldn't open it: it kept saying SAVE rather than OPEN. What do you know about this? (I appreciate your acerbic humour and, you've made me smile and r...

Re: texts on circle
Yes, Druban, that's exactly why I have done this. Yes, bits and pieces thrown around like handfuls of seeds for chickens to pick, so many contributions with missing steps, incomplete sentences, assumptrions and misunderstandings. Lots of good will but hurried descriptions and details. As a novice in...

Re: texts on circle
I was going to send you somethig but was told that Inkscape does not open file extension .odt. Which extension do I change it to? I don't see the .PDF extension as being available.

texts on circle
I may have a brief contribution about entering text on both top and bottom of a circle and how to center both. Shall I do it here, or will I waste my time and yours?

Re: text flow into frame
I wanted to print the file that you had edited so that I have it before me. I tried with my recently bought printer, Epson XP6000, and discovered that, with any file that had the svg extension, the printer simply put out a white page. Strange I thought... OK, no big deal. When you mentioned line hei...

text flow into frame
Attaching some text to a shape is easily done. I have tried innumerable times to FLOW text into one but fail. The text does go into the frame, but it's a mess as you can see in the attachment. What additional step do you think I should take?

Re: add pattern to repository
About CLOSED & SOLVED: other forum and mail sites have them; therefore my insistence. I apologize. Comparing copy/paste with import: : I have tried to copy & paste, but the item "pasted" appears on a new canvas, and the first one, the original, disappears behind it. Both methods pr...

Re: add pattern to repository
Before looking into your way of doing things, Brynn: items can be put in a list methodically by using either numbers or bullets, but Inkscape Forum does not accept bullets. So I am looking for some substitute symbol.

Re: add pattern to repository
Your experience has helped nicely. Here are the steps I have taken; you can tell me if they concord with yours. Made a personal patterns folder (Gpatterns) and put new SVG patterns there. If I need a particular pattern, I import it to put on the desktop. Now it's available for the fill. An interesti...

Re: add pattern to repository
One more bit to tell you. Opened a star drawing. Did an object to pattern. Saved that pattern/object. Opened another image (rectangle) where I did a fill with pattern. In Fill & Stroke located a number that was my pattern with another name (number). Clicked, and the rectangle filled with the pat...

Re: add pattern to repository
Hello again! Questions for you. 1) I know how to log out but not to close a query/post. 2) I cannot locate a cursor for an insertion of CLOSED or SOLVED before the subject name. How do you do it? I have seen some and wonder how it is done. 3) Brynn, you have experience doing copy/save and put a patt...

pattern transfer
The site https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/39705/cutting-multiple-lines-curves-with-a-closed-path-in-inkscape made me want to clarify and complete Milazzi and Gibellini's explanations. My so-called pattern transfer example will consist of a blue rectangle, red ellipse, and the ermine...

Re: add pattern to repository
Moini and Brynn, permit me to interject. I have spent all day still looking for a way to put the pattern in the repository, and I still can't do it. I have been able to use the XML editor and from there went to Notepad Plus. There I am overwhelmed by the multiplicity of data lines; I have no idea of...

add pattern to repository
Using an existing drawing, I have added it to share > patterns > patterns.svg.h (Why the h I don't know.) The pattern, multipointstar , fails to appear in Inkscape's list when clicking Fill & Stroke patterns. Is some item missing as you examine the attached Notepad file newpattern.png ?

pattern-transfer
A wordy heading and incomplete explanations about cutting lines with a closed path have made me look into something simpler and clearer. My so-called pattern transfer example will consist of a blue rectangle, red ellipse, and the ermine pattern. Draw a rectangle (blue) Inside it, draw a small ellips...

Re: my spiral is abnormal
It's interesting what you say about the oval and spiral both having a double contour. My fingers seem to be a little too fanciful. I am going to watch and try to keep them in check with my next attempt. When I have a stroke before my eyes I just do the stroke-to-path. But I didn't have a stroke befo...

Re: my spiral is abnormal
Am attaching bluepolygon.svg . It shows that the spaces between copies are not all identical; also, the patterns are either doubled next to each other or riding partially on top. A second file I am attaching is yellowstar.svg ; the spaces there are OK but the patterns here overlap too. Drop me a lin...

Yes, of course, I meant to say PNG and I didn't even realize that. Having read and made a copy of Brynn's helpful words, I will get into it soon and let you know.

Re: my spiral is abnormal
I don't know what is meant by sharing the SVG file; I have shared the problem with an ING file as you can see. I have a few SVG files but they are irrelevant. Druban's multiple suppositions find me perplexed. I am a "newbie" without your experience to tell you what you need. Rather than ti...

my spiral is abnormal
In LPE pattern along path I have used Inkscape's native spiral shape; it's a simple stroke. As a pattern I also used Inkscape's ellipse as a circle. The resulting combination is an odd spiral. The initial pattern circle is a full shape but the path circles lack this fill as you can see in the attach...

Re: trace bitmap (Inkscape 0.92)
When you ask to see the SVG file, which file do you mean when you say THE svg file? I have ready for you 3 PNG files that were done with a pattern called mulltipointstar.svg, on line, rectangle and spiral paths. Please let me know. Anything else? I'll try my best.

Re: trace bitmap (Inkscape 0.92)
I am not sure that what I have added will satisfy your requirements for an SVG file. I imported the multipointstar.svg to 0.92.4 LPE to use as the pattern. Then I made the three items as starline.png, starrect.png, and starspiral.png. As you can see, the paths are not what is expected. Also, you hav...
