Interesting... So you are saying that converting it is a way around buying it from monotype? Seems unfair to them, sort of. It's just courier new, which I thought was open sourced by new before I looked it up. Also, just to check what you said, if I combine objects, as opposed to grouping them, they...

Thanks for the reply. I had tried grouping them and there was still always a gap. Is it advisable to group all elements together after one is done editing?

UPDATE: I do this all the time. I play and experiment with something and finally give up and decide to seek out an answer. Then, 30 seconds later I figure the problem out. I just decided to extend the line deep into the 'd' and bring the text back to top. Sorry for wasting space.

I am trying to make a logo and I want a line to terminate at the top of the letter d as shown in the attached .png. I'm brand new to vector graphics and inkscape, but I've enjoyed dabbling so far. The problem is that the line terminates correctly into the d in inkscape but renders differently depend...
