Can you recommend a good tutorial for the pen tool?
I have a lot of trouble using the pen tool. I'm not that familiar with how Bezier curves which I'm sure is part of it, but also, I'm never sure when to drag, when to left click, when to right click, etc. Can you recommend a good tutorial that is step-by-step or a video that shows exactly how one use...

Re: saving as .wmf
Well, I need .wmf files to import into Word (as I said in my original post). What can I do about this PATH issue? And if Inkscape couldn't find my python installation, wouldn't that affect a whole host of features of the software? (I assume more than the .wmf converter is written in python). But eve...

saving as .wmf
Hello, I have Inkscape 0.47 (the latest stable release) on a Windows 7 computer. Whenever I try saving a file as a .wmf file, a black window opens (it says it's Inkscape\python\python.exe) and nothing happens. It creates a .wmf file, but that file is corrupt or something because I can't import it in...

Re: using the node tool with a fill pattern
Thanks! I've been looking for those handles everywhere, but I didn't think to zoom out the page! Also, thanks for referring me to those other patterns, I hadn't seen those either.

using the node tool with a fill pattern
Can someone point me to a tutorial on using the node tool to modify a fill pattern? Ideally, I'd like to make a cross-hatch pattern, but I would even settle for thin stripes. When I use the fill pattern, I get big, thick stripes. I've searched around and have found reference to using the node tool t...

Re: Help With Word and Inkscape
I find the png format to not look so nice when converted in Inkscape. It looks boxy to me, but I will try it. Out of curiosity, why won't the .emf format work?

Re: Help With Word and Inkscape
Follow up: I thought maybe if I saved the jpeg file as a .eps file first, that might work. So I opened the jpeg in Inkscape, and saved it as a .eps file. Then I closed Inkscape and opened it again. This time I tried to open the .eps file, but I get an error message "Failed to load requested fil...

Help With Word and Inkscape
I think perhaps what I've been attempting is impossible. I downloaded from the internet a jpeg (it was a schematic/diagram not a photograph if that matters). I opened it in Inkscape and edited the image a bit (changing some of the text mainly). I saved this file as .emf as I've seen suggested here. ...
