Re: forum moderating
I did not read the forum for a week and i am no longer affiliated with this community, but seeing this thread makes me think that some people still dont get it. So brynn sent Xav an email, telling him that i might lock everybody out. That made him take over the forum. Lol, what a joke. First of all:...

Re: Cannot Export PNG Image
Hmm, when i google root and inkscape a few answers come up.
Are you using the latest Inkscape version ? 0.91
Can you create a new layer, put everything in there (by cut and paste perhaps) and try to export ?
Also what settings do you use for exporting ?

Re: clip and export - clip border visible?
I see. There is also a technique to put an image as a pattern fill into a shape and edit the shape:

But i think that may not render so well with pdf. Not exactly sure...

Re: clip and export - clip border visible?
Have you thought about using your clip-shape as a layermask in Gimp ? Just export your clip as a black and white mask and paste it into a layermask, then apply. I mix Gimp and Inkscape all the time, with great success. Of course you could also import a path...i do that with rendering sometimes, beca...

Re: clip and export - clip border visible?
I dont know anything about this stuff, but i wanna mention: there is an extension called Pixel Snap (under Modify Path) that aligns vectors to the pixel grid.
Why do you need to clip your image ? Cant you just trim it with Gimp ?

Re: How to adjust the hardness of an image?
Im still not clear what is going on....
You did that effect with your phone ?
If you dont have the project file, then undoing the blur effect is close to impossible.
I'd rather try to find the original image.
Have you tried google reverse image search ? Or is that not an option ?

Welcome to the forum !
Post your image please and in my opinion that will probably a job for Gimp, not Inkscape.

Re: Halftone effect with filters
I do gt the basic concept, but it sounds awfully complicated.
How do you prevent halftone shapes from getting partially cut off by the masking ?

Re: Traffic lights with traced clone tiles (half tone effect)
It is suggested putting everything on a newly created canvas once the page is resized and maybe even nudging path nodes... mmmh, yeah. Its the same bug that sometimes happens when trying to make a sunburst with tiled clones. I know of that workaround. I didnt realize its the same with the tracing o...

Re: Traffic lights with traced clone tiles (half tone effect)
May worth mentioning the same look can be reproduced by filtering too. Similarly as described in the hatch/crosshatch topic. Hmmm, i had a look at that thread again. No idea how do it with a filter, and especially with dots... Show us please ! EDIT: Thread split and continued here: http://www.inksc...

Will re-check that in a minute.
Here is one of said crazy effects (with a rasterimage as the base), and i think i know why it does that. Its because i resized the canvas to image size. It doesnt happen when i use the unmodified canvas.

Re: Traffic lights with traced clone tiles (half tone effect)
Not only do i love this effect (as can be seen in my previous work), but this tutorial gave me an epiphany or two (well sort of, lol). I used to do this with blurred raster-images and always struggled with the effect, because it gave me the craziest (bug-like) effects. Using opacity instead of light...

Re: How to adjust the hardness of an image?
Welcome to the forum ! Most new inkscape users ask very vague question when they post for the first time. Context is very important. What were you trying to do ? Also you are mixing the terms image and shape. Image is mostly raster (so an exported png for example), while a shape is probably an svg o...

Re: What do you think of my puzzle book cover?
Im not sure what exactly you are asking for. Do you want a critique ? If so, i think there are a few things that could be improved. I like the basic concept a lot ! On the second look, i think its a bit cluttered. In my opinion there too many effects: you have the layered letters AND the pattern fil...

This is actually quite a cool technique as you can live edit the distance between the lines.

If it's for a paraxial core path maybe adding two extra bending nodes at the starting/ending wouldn't hurt that much.
Bend at a 90°angle and then clip the weird ends or what ?
