Re: shaped words inside shaped shapes
Presumably this can be done to fill any shape by adjusting the nodes. This is brilliant, thank you both very much for the info.

Re: shaped words inside shaped shapes
I had a look at your 2 links thank you Maestral, it looks very complicated and a lot above my level of experience. Lazur URH thank you for taking the time to reply, Draw a plane, add letters as a texture, subdivide and add subdivision surface modifier to the object etc, Not for a few years yet, I'm ...

shaped words inside shaped shapes
Hi all, It's difficult to search when you don't know what you're searching for. I would like to be able to take a shape (or shapes) for simplicity say a circle or triangle and then put a word or words inside that shape but want the word or words to be the same shape as the shape that I'm putting the...

Re: basic cutting questions
Hi I asked if it would be ok form me to put a screenshot of the doily on here, she very kindly said that she will take a better photo but it will be a couple of days as she is a bit busy at present, I will post it as soon as it appears over there. My cutter is back, it arrived yesterday despite all ...

Re: basic cutting questions
Hi Flamingolady What I was thinking is, Is there a set of principles to be borne in mind when creating svg cutting files to ensure a good cut so that the cutter gets clear instructions and doesn’t receive conflicting or confusing instructions, or anything in particular to be avoided. Before I start ...

basic cutting questions
Hi all As you know I haven't learned about Inkscape yet, I've managed to track down the book and have ordered it but I'm in desperate need of a bit of advice about the setting up of svgs to cut in a cutting machine. If I draw a design like the doily or the lace heart or some other design, what would...

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
Hi brynn, I was typing one post which was taking quite a while and the site disappeared, I thought it had run out of time. Also I have to keep going back and forth to see if I've answered the point, I don't retain everything that I've read on the computer screen for some reason, probably because the...

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
Hi Another rambling post, I have to type my posts into Word then copy and paste into the reply, otherwise I run out of time and it cuts me off. Name should really be inkykdinkykdon’t, because I never really DO anything, I seem to spend my time just ‘playing’ with things. The intention was to use the...

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
well, here it is. The pink backing isn't quite right (not used outset or offset whatever it is and this is the first attempt at that).
the design is lovely.

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
Brill, got full image, thank you, will start work on it now and post it when cut, it's a shame that the photo doesn't do it justice, it cuts so beautifully. It would look fantastic on a greetings card, pity I can't cut several out and send them in the post.

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
Hi Not long back from the shops and couldn’t wait to do the trace, patience is not one of my assets. Could only get a screenshot of half the pic, could do with one that doesn’t bring in the scroll bar, or a separate attachment that can be downloaded. So, I did a trace of the half and sent it direct ...

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
Hi I did try to cut the blue lace pattern but it's too small to take a trace from. The ecraft is going back on Wed 9th January at 2pm as it is not working properly and they want to test it (I think its chip is faulty). If a bigger pic or an svg can be uploaded before, say, 11pm on Tuesday 8th Jan I ...

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
Pic 1.jpg Yep that’s it. More holes, fewer holes, bigger holes, longer, shorter etc etc etc, all go towards making the overall shape including the ‘filler’ bits. I downloaded a couple of the svgs and cut them on the ecraft. Pic 1 shows the results. It would be interesting to see how fine the lines ...

Re: drawing lace with Inkscape
Hi I'm just beginning to learn about Inkscape as I've just bought a cutter and was browsing on here out of interest. I read all through the your posts relating to drawing lace with Inkscape with great interest. I have made lace type things with bobbin lace, crochet and tatting and the basic thing th...

Resizing irregular shapes
Hi, I have spent many, many hours trying to find out where I'm going wrong :? but am no wiser now. I have drawn an irregular shape using the Bezier tool (svg file is attached, I hope). It is intended that this shape will be printed and cut out to act as a background. I then want to cut out the same ...
