Re: dockable dialogs iconified vertically ???
It wasn't easy. Have at least one dialog docked. Then with another docked or floating dialog, drag it's subtilebar on top of another docked dialog. (don't drop it yet) If you move it down, you will see a small line where it would be docked if you were to drop it. Then move your cursor up a little un...

Re: dockable dialogs iconified vertically ???
So I'm not crazy ... whew!
I was able to recreate this by dragging the docked dialogs sub-titlebar to the center of another docked dialog
Scroll to the bottom of the attached image to see this

Re: dockable dialogs iconified vertically ???
not along the side ... does sound like you understood my first post correctly with multiple dialogs open, each had only the sub -titlebar showing at the bottom of the docked area and one dialog showing fully visible and docked maybe this was some sort of 'easter-egg' feature? I hope I wasn't dreamin...

Envelope deformation & 3D text ???
I am attempting to use the following method to create 3D text: 3d text (bevel edge effect) in inkscape I also want to use the 'Path Effect Editor'>'Envelope Deformation' to make the right edge twice as large as the left. Applying the deformation effect after making the 3D text ruins the 3D appearanc...

Re: selecting & transforming between layers
I determined this quirk was because the items I duplicated had been modified using the 'Path Effect Editor'>'Envelope Deformation'. So I have decided to change my workflow and use that effect later in the process. This has brought about a different problem. Since this new prob is unrelated I started...

selecting & transforming between layers
I am trying to make a shadow effect. I put all the items I want in one layer called base. Then I duplicated the layer and shifted it to the bottom and called it shadow. I then hide the base layer to work on the shadow layer. Any which way I try to move the the items in the shadow layer, the items in...

dockable dialogs iconified vertically ???
In the not to distant past, I somehow got all the docked dialogs to iconify vertically.
That is, with the dialogs docked, they all appeared at the bottom with one visible.
How can I repeat this behavior?

in need of ... envelope for dummies
I have read the manual and a few posts on this forum. But, I am unable to get the envelope extension working correctly. I thought I had it right once but cannot repeat it. I have converted the text I want to distort to paths. Should the paths be broken and ungrouped, combined and grouped, broken and...

force text to stay on path ???
After putting text on a path I wish to resize and move the text.
When I attempt to do that, I cannot seem to keep the text strictly to the path.
How is this possible?

Re: Inkscape closes immediately after open
OK ... I found the conflict. I tried disabling running programs one by one. Something I should have done before reinstalling. The conflict was with the programs 'noisy mouse' & 'noisy keyboard'. The programs can be running but the sound events have to be disabled. I am not sure why this would co...

Inkscape closes immediately after open
I have not used Inkscape in a short while and tried opening it up today. Everything seems fine except as soon as the program opens it closes without any error message. I tried uninstalling without saving preferences and the reinstalling Inkscape. Still the same outcome, the program starts and quits ...

two way gradient ???
I am unable to figure this one out and have tried many combinations.
I want a gradient that will fade dark on lower edge to light on top edge.
I wish it to also fade from opaque on the right edge to transparent on the left edge.
Thing will be clearer if you look at the attachment.
Any suggestions?
