Re: No automatic font kerning?
It's 2012 now and inkspace is version 0.48.3. the font's kerning is applied in the linux version of inkscape, but still not in the windows version. The gimp2 does kern under both operating systems, so the problem must be with inkscape. Why are the windows and linux versions so different from each ot...

Re: autokerning
I've noticed the problem too. I'm using a font that I created myself and it has several kerning corrections in it. I've noticed that the font's own kerning is applied in linux versions of inkscape 0.48.2, but not on the Windows-7 version at my own pc. It's really frustrating because it means that I ...

Re: font editor: width of individual glyphs
OK thanks!
So I need to set the kerning for 2*26*26=1352 different combinations. Is that how it's done?

Re: font editor: width of individual glyphs
I see there's a tab in the font editor called Kerning. Could that be the solution? I've seen that tab too, but I don't know how it works. Shifting the parameter doesn't seem to change anything and I can't find any documentation on inkscape's font editor about how to modify individual glyphs. It see...

font editor: width of individual glyphs
Hello, I've just discovered inkscape's svg font editor and I have a question: is it possible to let the bounding boxes around individual glyphs have their own width? For instance: the letter I is very narrow and the letter W is extremely wide, so I can't let them both have the same area width. That ...

Re: merging paths
That's weird! Yesterday I did that and it didn't work. Today I did the same and it DID work.
I have no idea how this is possible.
Thanks!

merging paths
Hello, I have recently upgraded inkscape. In the old version 0.47 I had the ability to merge multiple paths by pressing Ctrl and + together. I used this feature a lot. With the newer 0.48.1 version I noticed that this feature merges only 2 paths at a time, which is unpractical for me. It means I nee...

no lines by default
Hello, I mainly use the inkscape bezier tool and around each shape I draw I get a black line. Because I don't work with lines, I have to click them away with each new shape I draw. What I'd like to know is if those lines can be switched off by default, so that I don't get black lines but a white fil...

turning of inkscape's id renaming
Hello, I have a set of python scripts that work with svg files and I use inkscape too to modify svg files. I noticed that inkscape sometimes changes the id values of certain svg tags. This is not what I want, since my scripts rely on these id values. Because inkscape changes the id, I have to put th...

automating inkscape
Hello, I have a linux pc and a set of svg pictures I've made in inkscape. Each file contains some characters and a background. Both are on seperate layers. Suppose I want to make the same change to all of these files. For instance: I wan't to makethe characters a little bigger, but leave the backgro...

Re: problems with blending
New development: there was an xml tag with the word "filther" in the svg file with the mountain, I removed it and now the strange alpha-add effect is gone. I'm surprised it worked, because I know nothing about inkscape syntax. Anyway, this solves the mountain-sky issue. But I still have th...

Re: problems with blending
I Don't know if this is the problem, but: It should be stated that In Inkscape there are multiply places to set object opacity/transparency. All of which need to be checked. 1)Object opacity. affects both fill/stoke and groups of objects. Lower left hand corner of Inkscape window 1a) It should be n...

problems with blending
Hello, I have problems with blending in inkscape First example: I have two opaque objects in inkscape on the same layer: a blue sky behind a brown mountain. However, the sky looks as if it's been alpha added on top of the mountain. The mountain turns brightly blue at the parts where the sky sits beh...

group to path
Hello, I'm new to inkscape and I like to draw thick black lines around my drawings. Unfortunately, my drawings consist of multiple grouped objects with different colors. The method I've made up is duplicating the group, joining all objects together as one path, making it black and doing an outset on...

drop down menu pictograms missing
Hello, I've started using inkscape recently and I don't know much yet about settings. Last time I installed inkscape on a machine and I saw that the drop down menus have icons next to some of the options. For instance: the option "union" in the drop down menu "path" Yesterday, I ...
