How do I select a group of objects in a part of the canvas?
I've got an svg file with many object across a canvas. I'd like to select a group of objects that are contained within a rectangular area of this canvas. I've followed the directions for a "rubberband selection" in this document: http://en.flossmanuals.net/inkscape/toolbox/select-tool/ How...

How do I create curved text inside a curved rectangle?
I'm trying to create graphic text elements similar to the graphic text elements in this image: http://i.imgur.com/bQqkl5r.jpg In the leftmost image there is the text 'shopname' inside a rectangle. In the rightmost image there are two curved text elements with borders. Initially I tried this: * creat...

Re: How do I cut an area out of an object?
That does it! Thanks! I had created the delta shape by drawing a path and setting a thick stroke. So now I know that for at least some tools 'path' and 'stroke' are actually different things! I followed your advice and turned the stroke to a path. Then I did an 'exclude path', and achieved my desire...

Re: How do I cut an area out of an object?
In the image below, I have two shapes. I'd like to cut a shape corresponding to the black delta from the circle that sits under it: http://i.imgur.com/26dGFh3.jpg Looking at the docs 'path->exclusion', or 'path->difference' should do something like what I want. However, if I do either, I get this re...

Re: How do I cut an area out of an object?
Hi Lazur. That does something close to what I want, but not close enough to satisfy my needs. When I do 'ctrl -' a shape does get cut from the circle. But the cut-out is a rough approximation of the cut-out shape that I want. In this particular case, I want to cut out a shape similair to the charact...

[solved]How do I cut an area out of an object?
Hi. I'd like to make a simple circle with a curved line cut out of it. How do I do this? So far, I've made a circle. I've created another object above it, which is in the shape that I'd like removed from the circle. I had a play with the eraser tool, but as far as I can figure out, the eraser only c...

Re: How do I move node handles independantly ?
Hi. I'm definately selecting one node at a time, and I am using the node selection tool. The problem I'm having isn't related to changing the position of a node. It has to do controlling the curve on one side of the node at a time. I'd like to be able to change the curve on one side of the node, wit...

How do I move node handles independantly ?
Hi. I've created an object, and then turned it to a path so that I can control it's shape. However, when I begin to manipulate a node by moving one of it's handles around, the other handle moves as well, distorting the entire shape, and moving me further rather then closer to my goal. I end up havin...
