Re: PNG export quality

You've got quite a number of semi-transparent objects, as far as I can tell. They'll look different depending on the background they're viewed against. Try creating a white rectangle the same size as your image, and move it to the very bottom underneath all other objects (or create a new layer at th...

Re: Help cutting a "circle" image

Is this a vector image you're working with? It's a little confusing when you say "I never get a full circle due to all the pixels". Vectors don't have pixels until you export them in a raster format (in Inkscape's case, that's generally a PNG file). Did you create the image in Inkscape, or...

Re: Bezier Curve does NOT retain last used Fill Colour with TRIANGLE IN set in Shape

Can I ask what operating system you're using? I'm running KDE neon (based on ubuntu 16.04), and it seems to work for me, with 'last used style' selected. I actually have two versions of Inkscape installed (.91 from the repos, and .92 from a snap package) and it works with both. Sounds very much like...

Re: Tool Styles are counterintuitive; other problems using Width as an example

I'm sorry you're having difficulties, but it might be worth trying to adjust your mindset a little for vector work. With paint programs, you need to set colour/size etc before you touch the brush to the canvas, because once those pixels are painted, it can be difficult to remove them. That's absolut...

Thank you for the replies, everyone.

~suv, I'll have a look in Document Properties for those settings. Thank you!

Why does Inkscape retain font info when text is converted to path?

This isn't a problem issue, more that I'm trying to understand the reasoning. Let's say I type a couple of words of text, perhaps for a logo, then convert to path. Regardless of whether I save in Inkscape's default SVG format, or 'Save a copy' in Plain SVG, if I open the file in a text editor, it in...

Type 'cmd' into the search. That should find it on Windows.

Installed 0.92 via snap on ubuntu - theme looks a bit Windows 95

This may possibly be as much an Ubuntu or Snap question, as an Inkscape question, but I'll ask anyway. I use Ubuntu Mate 16.10 and I installed Inkscape 0.92 via the snap package tonight. Everything seems fine except the theme. I've attached an image of what I have. Screenshot at 2017-01-06 20-12-50....

Re: Basic Roughen Filter

This looks great and I might use the last one for a path on a map (the forest trail kind of path, not an Inkscape path!) I guess it'll be pretty hard on my PC though if I wanted several paths. I do want to give it a try so I'm leaving this comment so I can keep track of the thread. Thanks for sharin...

Hi Rtyuio, after you 'break path at selected nodes', press Ctrl+Shift+K (or go to the Path menu and select 'Break Apart'). Hopefully that should do it. :)

Re: Heart Font

The quick and dirty workaround is to find a heart symbol somewhere - like this: ♥ - and simply copy & paste. Highlight the heart and press Ctrl+C to copy (might be Cmd+C on a Mac?), then go into Inkscape. Click on the Text tool, then click anywhere in the document. Finally, press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+...

Re: Random Tree/Fractalise question

Hi ~suv, sorry for the late response to this, but I was stymied by the site's login problem. I've been using the newer version of Random Tree that you linked to above for a couple of weeks now. I've ran it numerous times with the 'lift pen for backward steps' enabled and it works beautifully. I have...

I believe you can also save icons in a user's local folder on a Linux system. Take a look in $YourHomeDirectory/.config/inkscape/icons/ (You need to show hidden files). Is there anything saved there?

Re: Concentric circles

I had a quick go at this and it's not too hard. I've tried to write out instructions below and hope I haven't missed anything. Create a circle and give it a stroke of approx 20px(?) and no fill. Duplicate this twice and drag the duplicates over to the left. (I started work with the final letter firs...

Re: Triangle in - setting width (solved)

You're welcome. :) You can also add additional purple nodes if you want to adjust the width of the stroke as it tapers (for instance, if you didn't want it to get thinner until near the end.) Using the node tool again, if you hold down Ctrl then click on the existing purple node, that'll create a ne...

Re: Triangle in - setting width

Hi! With the node tool :tool_node: selected, if you look at the 'fat' end of your line, there should be a node that's a pink/purple-ish colour. Click on that and drag it out a bit and your line should fatten up nicely.
