Mimicking Calligraphy with a power stroke
Hi, This started as a question, but I think I answered it. I wish to create a look similar to this: http://i66.tinypic.com/2efn8fk.png My skill set included two inkscape tools which could help: 1. Pencil + Path Smoothing + node editing = Allows me with a little patience to create a symmetrical path ...

Re: Color Picker: "pick visible color" at prescribed Alpha
I don't think so. If you got a purple pixel and you tell the color picker its alpha is 50% how do you want to tell if it's a 50% purple over purple or a 50% red over a blue pixel or a 50% blue over a red pixel (and so on) Good point! I was wearing blinders because in my example the background is al...

Re: Color Picker: "pick visible color" at prescribed Alpha
Alpha Blending Solver Good suggestion, impressive that you have something that specific on file. While it tries to do exactly what I need, it falls a little short on execution. It get's closer than either Color Picker or me, but it is still off by enough that the human eye can tell. A JPEG image ha...

Color Picker: "pick visible color" at prescribed Alpha
I have a .jpg original of our company logo: http://i61.tinypic.com/2d81c93.png (partial crop) I want to re-create it in Inkscape. (for obvious reasons) The only challenge I have is color-matching the original: When I use the Color picker I get an exact match, but for an Alpha of 255. As you can see ...

Re: Cloned Tiles: Is it possible to add bits to the original
Thank you Lazur.
That does indeed solve the problem.
Double Clicking on a group = Edit group. (now I know)
After the double click, anything I draw is part of the group and the clones, it's perfect
Click-away = end group edit.
Thank you!

Cloned Tiles: Is it possible to add bits to the original?
Hi, So far this forum has been able to find solutions where I could not. So I'm going to keep asking. Today's issue is with Cloned Tiles. Let's look at a small example: http://i60.tinypic.com/21mettv.png Top left is the original, the 'pin wheel' is made up of 6 Cloned Tiles. I have found 2 methods f...

Re: Mirror symmetry, was it ever / will it ever become avail
Tiled Clones...yes that'll do the trick!
It's just one of those things that I did not know existed until someone pointed straight at it.
Thank you Lazur URH

Mirror symmetry, was it ever / will it ever become available
Hi, I have figured out how manually mirror an object using Copy / flip / snap But this does not maintain a relationship between the original and the 'reflection'. If you update your object, you need to repeat the work around. If I google Inkscape + symmetrical + mirror I get some very promising hits...

Re: DXF export am I doing it wrong?
A kind of weird solution is this: - export as PNG (I used a rather high resolution of about 2500px longest side) - in a new Inkscape document, import the PNG - Path -> Trace Bitmap. I used Brightness cutoff, threshold 0,450 See result attached: one closed path object, looks exactly like the origina...

DXF export am I doing it wrong?
I am new to inkscape So hopefully you will read this, and then tell me a much easier way of getting the job done. Objective: I created a simple svg file, which is attached (a little of this, a little of that, until it looked the way I wanted it..) I want to laser-cut this design, so I need to create...
