[solved] Find intersection point between line and rectangle

Hi all, I need to find the intersection point between a rectangle and a line as shown in the following sketch. inkscape.jpg How can this be done? I don't need to create a node on this point or something else, I just need the coordinates where the line and the rectangle intersect for processing outsi...

Merge differently sized drawings to DIN A0 pages?

Hello all, I have multiple SVG drawings of different size. Now I want to plot them on an A0 plotter. Several of my drawings could fit on one DIN A0 page instead of one DIN A0 page for each drawing. Is there any tool that takes some drawings (or their PDF export) as input and arranges them to DIN A0 ...

tylerdurden, thank you for the detailed bug report! I already had a curious look at it ;-)
@brynn: Also thanks to you, though it really seems to be a bug.

Re: Using symbol from symbol library has different size than original symbol

Thank you all for your replies. tylerdurden's posts gave me the solution: I ended up copying default_px.svg to default.svg (in the Inkscape template directory). Created my diamond, made it a symbol and everything is fine. Same size as the original when added using the symbol library. No problem with...

Re: Using symbol from symbol library has different size than original symbol

Thanks tylerdurden, but I forgot to mention: The video was done on a clean install of Inkscape in a virtual machine (german windows with english as selected language, maybe that somehow influences the units). I would really expect Inkscape to handle necessary conversions internally. Guess I should f...

Re: Using symbol from symbol library has different size than original symbol

Sorry for my late reply, didn't find the time for Inkscape. Today I recreated my diamond symbol from scratch, completely using Inkscape 0.92.1 r15371. However I still have the same problem: The original diamond is larger than the diamond added to the symbols library to be used from there. I did a vi...

Re: Using symbol from symbol library has different size than original symbol

Thank you for your replies!
I am using 0.92 revision 15371, but I am not sure which revision I used to create the original diamond. Will try to recreate the diamond from scratch tomorrow.

Re: Using symbol from symbol library has different size than original symbol

Thanks, I am curiously looking forward to that! (While I understand the difference between px and mm, I don't understand how this can be a problem when only working inside Inkscape). I meanwhile tested your solution proposal, running into a new problem ): I did all the scaling and when I now add the...

Re: Using symbol from symbol library has different size than original symbol

tylerdurden, thank you for your reply. I have no doubt this will work, but I yet don't understand why and how exactly you got the scaling factor of 3.77953? If I open my diamond2.svg and check the page properties, it has a scale of 1. If I create a new inkscape file/page and check the page propertie...

Using symbol from symbol library has different size than original symbol

I just created my own symbol library, but when I use the first (and currently only) symbol from my symbol library, then its size is different and I also can't change e.g. the stroke width. This is my original symbol @ 1000% zoom: http://imgh.us/diamond_orig_1000.jpg And this is my symbol taken from ...

Re: Creating a perfect diamond (sewing pattern diamond)

Thank you all for your information on how this diamond can be drawn and what causes the display problems. I ended up following tylerdurden's way, just great! Sometimes things can be quite easy once one knows how to do it ;-) For the records, this is the "perfect" diamond (black) over my re...

Creating a perfect diamond (sewing pattern diamond)

Hello community, I need to create a diamond shape, but in the context of a sewing pattern, meaning my diamond shall look like this: http://imgh.us/diamond_1.jpg I created this shape myself and while it looks pretty well on the first look, the upper half is actually not a perfect mirror image of the ...

Re: Outset path - mappig of markings on path?

Thanks again to all your replies! @brynn: I am already subscribed, no idea what's going wrong here currently. Not so important though. I skipped experimenting Lazur's dynamic offset suggestion in favor of theozh's perpendicular (I actually mixed up tangent and perpendicular in my last post) which wo...

Re: Outset path - mappig of markings on path?

Guys, thank you all for your replies. I didn't receive any mail notifications about new replies and just saw your replies when checking manually today. As brynn suggested I tried Path combine and path union, however both methods share the same (logical) side effect: the diamond (or better triangle a...

Outset path - mappig of markings on path?

Hello community, I am using outset path to add so called seam allowances to a sewing pattern. Basically this works great, however I have some markings on the path that is to be outset, which I also want to transfer to the outset. How can this be done? A demonstration to make it easier to understand:...

Re: How to join two curves?

Thank you, when using the round cap, it indeed works and basically looks like requested in my initial post! I just noted that the curved edge doesn't look as good as expected, especially because only the outer edge is curved. a) is it possible to also make the inner edge rounded? b) is it possible t...

How to join two curves?

I have drawn two spiro curves in Inkscape. Both have the same endpoint, but when zooming in on the connection between these two curves, it does not look fine: http://imgh.us/demo1.jpg Note the gap between both curves. What I finally want to have is this (simulated using paint): http://imgh.us/demo2....

View path node position & delete superfluous nodes?

Hello all, I am new to Inkscape and could need some help about Inkscape and paths as follows: 1) When double clicking a path, one can see the singles nodes that make up this path. But where can I see the exact coordinates of a single node? I just could not find this. 2) How can I remove superfluous ...
