Melbourne transit map

Combined rail and tram maps have been done for Melbourne before ( Chris Brownbill , Mike Alexander ), but I wanted to create something that clearly delineated the lines/routes with good frequencies at most times from the rest of the system. Re: Your first Inkscape drawing

That's a really impressive transit map! If I ever get to Australia...well, that probably won't happen, but if I do ever end up there, that would be really handy! :) Truth be known, there wouldn't be any pressing reason to visit Brisbane; it's just an overgrown country town. And the transit fares ar...

They'd be better off recruiting graphic designer (and transit map connoisseur) Cameron Booth. His work is the bee's knees and then some. Especially his unofficial maps for Washington DC and Boston. They pretty much set the standard.

Re: Your first Inkscape drawing

Thanks! Ideally, a bus map should show which streets each route travels down, rather than just the stop names (especially with all-stops local service). Melbourne's tram network is something I might try depicting in a more detailed way; there are a lot of attractions there for residents and tourists...

Actually, it was something I did just for kicks. And because the official maps of the "frequent" bus "network" are utterly appalling!

Re: Your first Inkscape drawing

Here's a transit map for Brisbane, Australia I created not long ago. Inkscape's considerably more advanced than Dia for this sort of thing; even in terms of basics such as gradation and rotating objects. (Admittedly, it's poorly scaled—the text size requires the whole shebang to be enlarged to the h...

Re: Cincinnati Transit Map

Excellent job! That's the most appropriate format for on-street bus (or streetcar) services, as opposed to railways or BRT rights-of-way.

Greetings from another n00b

Greetings everyone. Just been using Inkscape for the last few months. Having an interest in transit maps, I've found Inkscape to be the (near-)perfect free software for drawing ones of my own. Previously, I used Dia; but the extra learning curve with Inkscape has been worth it!
