Re: Possible to change alpha blending algorithm?

I see what you mean now, that is basically what I want to do except I want to be able to overlap many such rings to show propagation of wavefronts of arbitrary shape. I'm not sure if there's an automated/systematic way to apply this to a large number of layers? Maybe interpolation between the bottom...

Re: Possible to change alpha blending algorithm?

After messing with this for a long time, I finally got it. In case anyone else is going insane trying to figure out the composite arithmetic filter, here are some details I figured out through trial-and-error. For the RGB channels, the pixel values i1 and i2 (from the equation K1 × i1 × i2 + K2 × i1...

Re: Possible to change alpha blending algorithm?

Vince, I tried what you suggest but I don't think it quite gets at the issue I'm having. I don't want to have to manage which layer has what transparency level in the stack, I just want to have overlapping layers blend in a way that doesn't depend on the stacking order. The filter effects seem like ...

Possible to change alpha blending algorithm?

I know this is a long shot, but I wanted to use inkscape to create illustrations of wave propagation and interference. I thought it should be simple to represent peaks and troughs with white and black at some opacity level such that white on top of white would become brighter and black on top of bla...

Re: Inkscape v0.47 and Illustrator 8 gradient compatibility

Unfortunately that is exactly what they require if you want to submit as a vector rather than jpeg. I understand the need to avoid using transparency and I'm fine with that, but I know that gradients are possible in AI8 compatible eps format because you can do it with Illustrator. PDF to EPS convers...

Re: Inkscape v0.47 and Illustrator 8 gradient compatibility

Unfortunately I have to both retain eps format and avoid rasterization, whether this is a sensible policy or not is something the stock sites should reconsider I guess. I will look into the pdf to eps conversion though, and I'll let you know if that works any better.

Re: Inkscape v0.47 and Illustrator 8 gradient compatibility

I am wanting to make vectors to submit to stock websites, so I am limited to their policies as far as what format things have to be uploaded in. Specifically I need to upload vectors as .eps and have it not rasterize anything when opened in Illustrator 8, which is still the industry standard for som...

Inkscape v0.47 and Illustrator 8 gradient compatibility

I apologize if this has been answered already, I did a search and didn't find it. I read somewhere that "Upcoming v0.47 has an improved exporter to EPS." I am wondering if this means that gradients created in Inkscape will no longer create bitmaps when the .eps is opened in Adobe Illustrat...
