Re: Drawing and erasing technique?

I'm sorry; how is that putting you down?
You made your statement and I disagreed.

Re: Drawing and erasing technique?

I've updated the original post with an image to make what I'm talking about clearer. 1) If a line goes behind an object, draw it as "2 separate lines with a gap". It is more work, and creates more ragged ends, and things don't exactly line up, but it gets you "thinking" in a real...

Drawing and erasing technique?

Since I'm poking around these forums already, I thought I might ask about something that I've thought of from time to time. I'm wondering if there is a better method or process to draw than what I am doing. To clarify, I'm talking about creating images that look like hand drawn-cartoons: they have l...

Re: Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of node selection?

I can't help but notice in your example gif you drag these line segments FROM THE MIDDLE of the line, and not, say, a couple pixels away from the node. Maybe it's because if you grab a segment near the nodes that subtle manipulation will send the line flying out into the stratosphere, or maybe it's ...

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of node selection?

Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of the nodes when I am trying to select them? This is by far the biggest and most aggravating issue I face with using Inkscape. When I am using the "edit paths by nodes" tool I CONSTANTLY have the wrong thing get selected. If I miss clicking the a...

Can I make select guides look different from other guides?

I have some guides set up on my image that I wind up getting confused with other guides, and I have to pull back and examine the image to tell which guide I am trying to follow. Is there a way I can distinguish one guide form another? Like make it change color? Or maybe assign guides to particular l...

How can I keep corners pointy

How can I a keep a line pointy? Here's what I'm talking about: Point.png If I have a line coming to a sharp point like that, I might have it cut off on the end like on the right, or it might have a sharp point extend out like on the left. Typically I can tweak it just slightly to make it go one way ...

Re: Windows opening up off-screen

Oh, I can press alt-space for the dialogue window to select "Move." So I can do that for windows that don't appear in the taskbar.

That was not expressly stated in that thread, but I did find it when he mentioned it for the main window.

Thank you.

Windows opening up off-screen

When I try to open up the "document properties" dialogue box, the window for it apparently opens up off-screen. The last time I was working in inkscape I had a different monitor configuration, so I guess it used to appear on a monitor I no longer have. The main window grays out like I am f...

Grid snapping

My regular computer is out of commission this week, and so I downloaded and installed the latest version of Inkscape (onto my laptop,) which apparently is 0.91. I have no idea what version I am used to using, but it couldn't be more than two years old. Right away I notice that the program actually r...

Tangent lines?

I'm wondering if there is any method to create a curve that automatically has the lines coming off of it to be tangent. In AutoCAD, I can draw a circle, and then attach two lines to it as tangents. This creates a shape of a straight line going in one direction, curving in a perfect circle, and then ...

Snap movement?

I am wondering if there is a way to move an object by an exact value. perhaps to have it snap to a set distance. I know there are some snap setting in the document properties, but these do not do what I'm looking for. Those snap to a grid or a guide, and annoyingly require fiddling with a menu to ac...

Merging linework

I have an image that I have drawn with several objects overlapping each other. https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/714x669q90/537/DBvXu3.png I want to fill the shapes with a particular design that I will create custom for each shape. Under normal circumstances the only way I can think to do this is sp...
