Re: Rounding the outline of text

That's it!!!! There were a couple extra little objects that were causing it not to work. I deleted those and either selection method works fine. To add the fill of the interior corner you can select the main part and then the fill block and do a 'union'. If you do the interior corners first you can ...

Re: Rounding the outline of text

The issue is some weirdness with selection of both the front and rear elements. I was dragging a box around the letters to select them. This works on the original 'n' but for some reason does not on the copy I was working with. If I hover over mine after dragging the box around and click and move th...

Re: Rounding the outline of text

I am stuck at the path division. For some reason it works for me on Lazur's next to last line letter n but not on mine. I looked at the nodes and they look the same (before attempting the division and except for the spot I moved part of the letter). I have both versions selected when I do the divisi...

Re: Rounding the outline of text

I worked through each step of the file and rewatched the video. I can get to the next to last point in the file. I copied one letter beside the ones already there. The one I am working on looks identical to the one already in the file at the next to last step (at least as far as I can tell). I selec...

Re: Locate center of multiple characters/lines of text?

I put together the attached example with some random words with word lengths and size similar to my project. The final tool will press sheet metal to raise the letters. The force is proportional to the length of the outside of the letters. The length for an 'O' would be the circumference of the outs...

brynn,

I missed that, thanks for pointing that out and how to see more detail.

Locate center of multiple characters/lines of text?

I am making a pattern for an embossing die which has three short lines of text. The font size and length of the lines are different. I would like to find the center of this (centroid I think would be the precise term) since this is the center of pressure when pressing this (or at least a close appro...

Re: Rounding the outline of text

The example of rounded text by Lazur is exactly what I want to do. Can you explain step by step? From the video I can't figure out what to do after breaking the inner and outer path the first time to get to the second breaking. I have stepped through the video numerous times. Is there a simpler way ...

Rounding the outline of text

I am trying to round the corners of text, both inside and outside corners. I found a video showing what I want to do but I am having trouble following it since there isn't any audio and it appears they added a few notes on screen of skipped steps in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNerZKQ...

Re: Offset/outset on just a section of object

Thanks. I used the first method by Moini. Then deleted a few points on the pedals and smoothed them by hand by moving the points individually and moving the handles to adjust the trajectory between points. It went pretty quickly and quicker than figuring out if there was an automatic way to do it (a...

Re: Offset/outset on just a section of object

Here is the portion of the file I am working with. I would like to increase the width of the stem and round the flower pedals without modifying the base of the object.

Offset/outset on just a section of object

I have an object that I want to expand and round but I don't want to apply that to the whole object. I have tried just selecting the portion of the object but that didn't work. It appears that I have to cut the portion I want to work with free from the rest of it, apply the outset, and then put it b...

san serif font - periods appear square??

I have used san serif font. The letters look fine. But the period is square. Thought this might have something to do with number of points but other characters are rounded. Is this something I can adjust with a setting or do I need to use a period from another font? I did a bit of searching but didn...
