Re: Document Not Saved
Hi Brynn Sorry I didn't get back to you...I appreciated your comments and thoughts. You're right - some of my questions were related to other topics. I suppose with each new file I (often) encounter new problems and believe (hope) there may be a readily available fix addressing a unique and isolated...

Two Clicks to Open File?
Hi, I'm working with a windows, 64 bit, using .91 for 32 bit (the 64 one caused my computer to crash). Starting about one week ago, I've noticed problems opening PDFS or AI files (essentially PDFs...) This is what happens: -I navigate to the file, click open, nothing happens. -Assuming the file is s...

Re: Circular Arrows
Update...so...I know how to do it in a clumsy way...(boolean operations) but I know there must be a more streamlined approach, possibly putting the shapes equally on a path? Any thoughts on a more productive and elegant manner in which to draw this would be appreciated.
thanks

Circular Arrows
Hi...
I would appreciate some help...could someone tell me the most efficient and accurate way to make this (see picture)?
Or...just one with 3 arrows?
If possible, maybe a sample svg....?
thanks

Here is a picture of the program manager, taken right while I was in the midst on working on that file.
From what I can tell, it's not a memory issue?
thanks

Document Not Saved
I'm working with a windows, 64 bit, using .91 for 32 bit (the 64 one caused my computer to crash). So this new problem occurs with large files (113 mb). I know this is very big... Anyway, the file starts to run slowly and I hit save. Instead of saving the file, the save as box appears, prompting me ...

Re: Deleted Files!!!! Please Help.
Hi, Thanks for those thoughts - I was in a bit of a panic last night. So a couple things. To address: I'd examine the file in a unix/text editor. See if anything looks like SVG- I really don't know what that is. Updates: To answer the questions, the best I can: -Do you still have the file in your co...

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hi all, So...I submitted a bug report but I thought I'd reach out here too. This is what has started happening, even with the 32 bit: Hello, I use windows, my computer is 64 bit. I was using inkscape .90 32 bit version (the 64 one was horrible). I have 8gm ram. When I try to open a large file, which...

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hey Brynn, Well dream or no dream, I'm not really happy with this new version. Another question came up in regards to preferences. Ragistan wrote earlier to go to preferences and then user directory to find out where to install things... But I'm not sure which is the user directory (see picture) tha...

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hi Brynn, Thanks for the explanation about why you should install certain files in certain places. I actually tried to relocate some files, but I must have done something wrong because it resulted in inkscape .90 (64 bit) not working. That's ok, I was going to uninstall that version anyway...which I...

Preferences...from where? A program? Start menu?
thanks

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Update: Ok, I tried to only click on installer (exe) and put that in a special file [under programfiles(x86) ) I then right clicked, sent that to the desktop. I then clicked it to run. This time I got a message saying a previous version was installed BUT I was given the option to continue anyway, so...

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hi... Ragnar, your method is sorta confusing...I'll try, maybe, if I feel confident enough. However, Brynn your method seemed like it should have been easier but I am missing a critical step. Here's what I'm doing - I'll tell you where I think I'm missing a step and if you could, please tell me what...

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hi.. I know the threads are at 1... So...I want to try brynn's suggestion to install the 32 bit version and compare the two. However, when I try it keeps telling me I already have inkscape, which I do. (Actually, I have two inkscapes, the .90 and the one before that, .48. Somehow I was able to keep ...

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Wow, impressive explanation, Ragistan.
Although I didn't understand many of the details you mentioned, it seems that with 8gb of RAM I should keep the 64 bit version. Would you agree?
thanks

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hi guys...
Great discussion and explanation on tiff files.
If I convert a tiff to a jpg, is it smaller?
Regarding the 64 vs 32 bit...is there any advantage of one over the other?
I have 8gb of RAM
thanks

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hi Brynn, Thanks for your thoughts... I'm pretty sure I got 64 bit. I thought I had to bc my computer is 64 bit...maybe that's wrong? I never had these problems with the previous version...and I might go back. A new solution I'm trying is to view everything in grey scale... Finally, I've discovered ...

No, I don't understand what you mean by "plus.."
But any other tips regarding making the file run more smoothly?
Or why it suddenly shuts down?
thanks

Re: New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slo
Hi Lazur thanks for the thoughts... I'm not sure what this means: What is the exact plus from the raster images? Maybe they could be recreated as vectors? Plus? Did you mean what is the exact size from the rasters? (most are rather large photographs so to look ok when printed at such a large scale)....

New Inkscape Problems (shutting down, pattern fills, slow)
Hi, I have some general questions/concerns... I'm aware being more specific would be of use here, however right now I'm curious if anyone is experiencing these same symptoms. If so, then maybe we could compare notes/details. Also, I know posting a file would be helpful, however I can't do so. But sh...
