Is it possible to turn a pattern into a path?

Postby The Realms of Gold » Tue Mar 19, 2013 6:48 am

Inkscape offers the possibility of filling objects with patterns. Some of these are bitmap patterns, which I'm not concerned with. But the geometric ones (various stripes of various types, and so on) seem to be vectors. Is there any way to turn an object filled with stripes into a path of many long thin rectangles? If so, how? Thanks!

No.

(you can convert a pattern to object(s) (see menu 'Objects > Pattern'), but that command only affects the original tile of the pattern, and does not 'flatten' a pattern fill as described).
