I'm curious if there's any improvement about screen refresh under windows in the next release.
Currently Inkscape suffer of this only weakness to me, the slowness of the screen refresh. Maybe it's due to the gtk...?
Next rel. on windows, any speed improvement?
Re: Next rel. on windows, any speed improvement?
Inkscape is slow to render when you are using a lot of filtered objects or a huge number of objects or a huge number of nodes n objects. This is very processor intensive and that's why it seems slow. I guess only a faster computer helps there until some advanced features are implemented like hardware acceleration, don't know when this might come into play (not easy to implement).
But you can help yourself in certain cases - keep filtered objects on a separate layer and hide it while you do other work, there is a new View mode that disables filters rendering (Ctrl + 5), or zoom in when working on a lot of nodes.
Was this what you asked about or did I misunderstand?

Rendering will be one of the focus points in 0.49, thus I am confident one should see progresses in this area.
