Newbie lost

Postby wilmason3 » Wed Sep 05, 2012 7:41 am

Just starting to learn Inkscape, have a number of video tutorials and reading info. Having a beginner problem; several instructions have me drawing a basic circle, simple enough. However when I go the to circle tool and left hold and drag I get the outline of a circle but NOTHING completely blank, no circle. Would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direct by letting know what I'm doing wrong or what setting I have miss-applied?
Thanks
God bless and have a great Day

Welcome Bill!

I don't understand the part about getting the outline of a circle, but then the circle is gone. If Inkscape wasn't drawing something, you'd probably still see the bounding box, which is a rectangular dotted line and some arrows. Do you see that?

Welcome to the forums.

What most likely is happening is that the fill and stroke are turned off (or set to white). Immediately after you draw a circle, click on one of the colours in the row at the bottom of the window. This will set the fill colour and you should see the circle.
