When I export an image to png, the diminsions are not the same as the svg measures on the rulers.
What I'm trying to do is make a logo for a website that is 60 pixels high. How I have been trying to accomplish this is by using ctrl-drag on the corner of the image to scale it down so that the edges of the selection measure 60 pixels in height on the ruler on the side of the inkscape window. Then I select file>document properties>fit page to selection, and double check the image measures 60 pixels high on the ruler. When I export to png, the resulting png image is only 48 pixels high when I set it to 72dpi in the Export Bitmap dialog window. If I set the height to 60 pixels high, the dpi changes to 98. Is there a way to adjust pixel size and dpi independently of each other?
Also somewhat of a secondary question, I'm sure there must be a way to more accurately adjust the size of the image in inkscape (ie. key in values) besides dragging the arrows, but I can't seem to find it?

Re: pixel size on ruler doesn't match exported size?
Inkscape's default dpi is 90, so to get the correct sizes always export with 90dpi. If you want to reduce the exported image file size you can use Gimp

Re: pixel size on ruler doesn't match exported size?
Thanks prkos, now why didn't I think of that?
I'll give that a shot, but for the sake of efficiency I'd expect Inkscape must have a way to deal with those two questions (a: Adjust pixel size & dpi independently when exporting, and b: adjusting onscreen image size by keying in accurate values instead of the less accurate method of dragging the arrows) - unless of course those features just haven't been implemented yet...

Re: pixel size on ruler doesn't match exported size?
I think the dpi issue has been reported in the bug tracker, but for the latter you can enter exact size and position of an object using the Selector toolbar, and grid with snapping can also help there.

Oh geez, I didn't even see the boxes on the Selection toolbar....
Works a treat, imagine that! I had tried using the grid with snap, and got the grid lines to show but couldn't get snap working - checking the manual just now *cough* I found the Snap tab in the Document Properties dialog... wouldn't have expected to find it there, but hey what do I know? Obviously I'm a total Inkscape newbie here...
Thanks for the hints, prkos, will consider this problem Resolved!
