Hi peeps,
New here, and new to Inkscape, really like the quality I`m getting with the fonts, very readable down to #3 size. However, I have a problem, everything does fine printing the test/sizing pages on my cheapo HP printer, but when I try to print on the Alps I get a error message that this driver is not correct. I use this printer quite often with MS Word, Paint, Photoshop with no issues. So I can only assume there must be some little Click I don`t know about in Inkscape.
Any insight?

It seems that printing is one of Inkscape's weakest features. I've actually seen more complaints about Inkscape not printing on HP printers, so it's interesting that you have it working on an HP printer.

The error message that you're getting about the driver, is that coming from Inskcape? I wonder if it could be coming from the printer software?

the error message " The printer model isnot compatable with this printer driver" However as said I can print this same text file straight from Inkscape onto my HP Deskjet 1000 perfectly. And just to be clear the Alps does print perfectly using "any" other photo or document editing program. So It must be a glitch in Inkscape that I need to remedy.

Yeah, that sounds like an error message from the printer, to me. While some software can find ways to work with an incompatible driver, other software can't. I'd say your best bet will be getting the proper driver.

thanks for the try, but there is no other driver, Alps printer drivers are only available by the operating system, windows 95/98 , XP. Like I say, the printer works great just not with this program. Just thought maybe someone here may have encountered this and figured it out.

Can you print from GIMP?
Inkscape and GIMP are using the same GTK and Cairo Toolkit.
