Mirror Symmetry path effect missing?

Postby MindsForge » Thu Jul 02, 2015 5:47 am

I was looking for this feature demonstrated in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMfMdBir9H4

but it wasn't in my path effects list:

Is there a path effects pack I need to install or something?

Thanks! (I am using Inkscape 0.91 r13725 on Arch Linux btw)

I'm not sure if that ever was part of a stable release. Maybe it was in a development version, back then, but for some reason, wasn't released.

If you really need it, maybe you could use that version number (0.48 r11359) and try to find out if it's still available. Do it quick though, because I think Inkscape is planning to move all its download files off of Sourceforge, and obscure versions that may be available now, may soon be.....less available (afaiu). Soon!

Or it might be available in a current development version (for all I know) and I know there are dev versions for Linux. If that specific path effect isn't available, there will soon be several awesome new path effects in one of the next few new versions. I think there are previews, hold on.....

https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/1352/ Jabiertxof's devel gallery. Some of those are LPEs and some aren't. More: https://www.youtube.com/user/jabiertxof/videos

Thanks for the tips and links!
I decided to install the dev version based on what I saw, and the mirror effect is there: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/inkscape-bzr

also a friend on twitter sent me a short video tutorial on how to do it with the clone tool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2x15EN1D3w
