hi im new to inkscape and seem to have a problem when I select say a black on the pallet at the bottom left of the screen its more like a grey when it should be a dark black ,any one else had this problem the same happens for every colour

Probably the object's opacity is lowered; change it back to 100% -at the bottom field, or in the fill and stroke panel (Shift+Ctrl+F).
