Inkscape Biz Card looks great, but only text prints

Postby TerrellJP » Sat Nov 14, 2015 6:11 am

By way of introduction, I am Terrell J Phillips and I am a private music instructor who also used Adobe Illustrator in the past for advertising work. Recently, I tried my hand at creating a business card and then a set to be printed out. Everything went without a hitch. So, I tried printing out a business card for my wife's home business, but only the text printed. I am using Windows 10 Premium, Inkscape, and a Canon Inkjet printer. I guess when I get over this hurdle, I'd like to know how to make two-sided business cards using Inkscape, if that is possible.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

Welcome aboard!

For printing I'd recommend using pdf-s (print ready format).
Save your work as pdf -don't forget to have an svg copy, just in case-, and print outside inkscape. Pdf printing dialogs have a setting to print in actual size, making your work appear in 1:1 scale.

Two sided print? Would need special care on a printer that can print on one side only, and making a design that can bear a few mm mismatch.
Or use a printer that can actually print on both sides.

If you happen to have one of them, you would need stitching two pdf-s together. One containing the front, the other one the back.
Svg and inkscape doesn't have an option for multiple pages , so it's the only way to use pdf "split and merge" programs.

Beware of this bug (Win 64bit, Inkscape 0.91 64bit, images that contain transparency):
