two questions at the most basic level.
In the Inkscape Preferences Dialog box , I was not able to see the effect of checking or un-checking the box next to "show selection cue".
Are there simple short-cuts to directly click and assign from an object or path its ( fill stroke stroke-style attributes ) to all the pen, pencil and all shapes tools without opening the preferences dialog. One click would change all settings without individually assigning them?
Thanks.

I think you have to restart Inkscape for the change to take effect.

Not that I'm aware of.
Re: Inkscape Preferences show selections que
Thanks, microUgly, for your reply.
I later realized that selections que is a small square icon top left hand of object in place of the usual dashed boxes. Used most likely when there are several overlapping objects to select from. If there is any other advantage specific to using selection que, it would be great to find out.
All the best.

I really don't know much about what it is or why you would turn it off. I didn't know what it was prior to your query.
